Shepherd for Mayor?

Post by Ken7 »

A blast from the past, we will be going no where with her sitting in the Mayors seat. Go away already!

The city of Kelowna needs a forward thinking Mayor, not a blast from the past.

If 'going no where' means no more $800,000 bathrooms, I'm with her.

I believe Sharon has the experience, knows Kelowna's needs, truthful, and hardworking.
Sharon does not have ulterior motive, does not need the $'s or retirement package. Sharon cares about people, and most certainly does not bow to the "Old Boys Club".

She has my vote.

No doubt these are great and worthy attributes. However, she has the demeanour of a wet lettuce.

If she sharpened up and got herself more of a cutting edge and can-do attitude, she might offer a more rounded proposal.

Kelowna would be drowned in a sea of committees and hand wringing.

As it is, I wouldn't let her run a bath never mind a council.

I believe Sharon is up to it. Don't forget, Sharon was up against the "Old Boy's Club", with counsel, still, at Mayor Gray's beck and call back then.

Here's hoping the "Old Boy's Club" no longer rules Kelowna.... I, for 1, am sick of their entitlement.

God bless the committees.

She is not what Kelowna needs. Don't mind the thought of new blood in the Mayor seat, but she is not it.

But she will get me out to vote against her.

*bleep*/newsitem/former-mayor ... ed/it13663

The scariest part of this story is her resolve to talk an issue to death rather than do what a mayor is elected to do. We elect a mayor to be a civic LEADER, to, with the advice of council, make decisions for the good of the city yet when discussing taxation she is quoted in the article to say "When it comes to property taxes, Shepherd advocates an open, year-long dialogue. She wants a process, which lasts all year, not just for a couple days, once a year at budget time, which is, “simply not good enough.”

I can see her sycophants lining up to get on these committees. More of her coffee klatch government style. Not what the city needs. I haven't made up my mind on who to vote for yet but I know she will not be on that list.

We just spent three years digging ourselves out of the hole Sharon Shepherd created with in-decison, committees that went on forever and a total block of real development in this city which then creates jobs and prosperity for all citizens.

We need to move forward not backward. Give this city some new leaders with vision and leadership abilities.

Please don't vote her in. We really need younger people that are decision makers and forward thinkers.

No more committies and no more studies. Make a decision.

I would like to see Kelowna Flourish, not get bogged down with indecision again.
