That world has become good now? You should watch the news sometime, or get off the happy pills.

I said 'learn.'

Preaching the gospel around the world means teaching people 'how' to be good.
or do you go three times week to Kingdom Hall to learn how to cheat? No - you learn
how to be good.

So God said, as soon as the whole world learns how to be good - it explodes.

I thought you wanted preachers to preach about losing weight?

God probably doesn't care if people lose weight, since the world is going to explode as
soon as the whole world 'learns' how to be good.

^^ off topic
Pastors can talk about rapture all they want as it's about what's in the bible. Being overweight is something only the overweight person can do something about.

If you insist.

There are two extreme positions on Bible prophecy, realized eschatology and dispensational premillennialism. The first is that all prophecy was fulfilled by 70 AD including the book of Revelation and the Second Coming. The other extreme is you position which is essentially that everyone happens at the end. Neither interpretation is correct if we take what was written in proper context.

Let's look at what was actually written.

"Verily I say unto you, this generation shall not pass away, till all these things be accomplished."
    ~Matthew 24:34

Which generation, Thinktank? "This." As in not yours and mine, but the one Jesus was speaking to.

Let's get more context by reading the previous chapter:
"All these things [the consequences of the Jews’s rebellion] shall come upon this generation."
~ Matthew 23:36

In short, the disciples assumed that the second coming and the destruction of the temple would occur at the same time, which is why they asked about when these things would happen. Jesus first discussed the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple in Matthew 24: 1-33, and then stated that all these things would happen before this generation passes away in verse 34. Notice that the statement about the gospel being preached far and wide is within that context.

In verse 35 Jesus then turns to answering the second half of their question, which was an inquiry into when the end of the world will come. Notice that there are no signs and signals leading up to this event. Jesus then ended that section by stating, "no one knows they day or hour, not even the son of man." In other words, anyone like your good buddy Harold Camping who tells you that they know the date is full of something brown and smelly.
"No one has the right to apologize for something they did not do, and no one has the right to accept an apology if the wrong was not done to them."

What if at the moment of death, each being has their own personal rapture? Perhaps that is what death is.

don't have a clue what to do.

Ummm ...

Proverbs 23:20-21
Be not among drunkards or among gluttonous eaters of meat, for the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, and slumber will clothe them with rags

Proverbs 23:2
And put a knife to your throat If you are a man of great appetite.

Proverbs 25:16
Have you found honey? Eat only what you need, That you not have it in excess and vomit it.

Proverbs 28:7
He who keeps the law is a discerning son, But he who is a companion of gluttons humiliates his father.

Luke 21:34
But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap.

Philippians 3:19
Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things

Ok, so granted technically those verses aren't about "losing weight" ... they're more on the "don't get fat" mindset.

Soooo ... if you "eat only what you need", you don't get fat, ergo there's no weight to lose.

QED.

That's definitely not something God would say.

To be fair, complete context would be:

Proverbs 23:1-5
When you sit down to eat with a ruler,
Consider carefully what is before you;
And put a knife to your throat
If you are a man given to appetite.
Do not desire his delicacies,
For they are deceptive food.
Do not overwork to be rich;
Because of your own understanding, cease!
Will you set your eyes on that which is not?
For riches certainly make themselves wings;
They fly away like an eagle toward heaven.

I'll also throw in:
Matthew 5:29-30
"If your right eye makes you stumble, tear it out and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. If your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to go into hell."

Now, if you wanna debate if God/Jesus/Bible actually says those things we can progress to that; however, your initial pre-tense was about what's said in the Bible about losing weight, evidence of which has been put forth.

If riches make themselves wings and fly away like an eagle to heaven,
how come the rich are getting richer ...... and richer, and richer and richer every day?

And 40% of us are overweight .

My church believed being overweight was a spirit. I'm not making this up. That's what we believed - that being
overweight was a spirit.

You never know, it could be. But with 40% of Canadians being overweight, the churches are definitely not
doing much good for anyone in that category.

What would your proposition be? Only allow skinny people in the church? Force attendees to commit to weight lose?
"Typically", the church is concerned with a person's soul, whereas doctors+hospitals focus on the body.

And for what it's worth, I've heard of churches doing seminars/studies on "healthy living", not necessarily just weight lose, but all parts that is a topic among many.
