Yup, it had tradition.

The contest is a good way to get lots of graphic artists to work for nothing and one to get underpaid for the logo that gets chosen.

I liked it to. Why change something that is working and very well recognized. Kinda like Main Street Revite plan; change it because they CAN; not because it will be better. I'm not against change; but only when its to improve things.(and doesn't cost taxpayers millions).

I like it too but have to admit that it has got a bit stale and is a bit too cartoonist. Perhaps some talented graphic artist, with the tools that are now available, can take the current logo and just jazz it up a bit so it doesn't look like a "Charlie Brown" comics frame.

id say the move is in response to the "great okanagan beer festival" who appeared on the scene with a modern looking ogopogo logo a month ago... they got leapfrogged

I hope they don't go with a Spirograph logo.

On the other hand it would be good exposure for the successful participant.

I guess you could spin it that way, I have a good friend who does that sort of work, she says there is no shortage of work out there, just a shortage of people willing to pay even minimum wage for what it can take timewise, that's just the reality of the trade I guess. If 20 people enter a logo, 19 are gonna get stiffed.

That new "Great Okanagan Beer Fest" logo makes the old Fest Of Ale logo look pretty darned good, what a stinker....
