Good for them. I'm an atheist and have returned found wallets 4 times.

That's one problem I have with religious folks...the only reason they took it back is because Jehovah was watching them....not because they had the morals to do it on their own accord.

Sorry but that's what morals are. They have been taught right from wrong and the fact that they are "supposedly" being watched is irrelevant. If they had no morals they wouldn't care about being "watched".

That's the religious view of morals....and it's not irrelevant to this story - because they stated that the thought about keeping the money because they needed it...but knew that Jehovah was always watching.

As an atheist, I still have morals and know right from wrong, even though I know I'm not being watched.

Well as atheists our morals are better cause we don't have to have them to get to a "better" place.
We also don't have to confess our sins and then go break the moral rules and do it all over again.

Matthew Jones says the couple briefly considered keeping the money
I have found cash and not once did I consider keeping it but found the rightful owner.

Those Jehova's Witnesses are not as great as they want people to think.

If I found $2,000 in a bag somewhere with no I.D. there's about a zero percent
chance I'm going to go give it to the police.

If I get $2,000 from Burger King, #1 - I know exactly who lost the money, It's Burger King
and #2 - there's a good possibility their cameras know I got the money and they'll be coming
to my place to ask me to return it. Then I'll look like an idiot. so there's a 100% chance I'll return
the money - AND I WON'T GO BRAGGING IN CHURCH ABOUT HOW GODLY I AM FOR RETURNING THE MONEY.

And if people start trying to say how great they are because they would return money with no I.D. to the police,
forget it. I know you wouldn't - so don't lie. If people are as great and honest as they claim
to be - why are there so many lawyers in Canada, and the courts are full of people fighting to get money?
If you have to be persuaded reminded bullied pressured bribed incentivized, lied to, guilt tripped, coerced, socially shamed, censored, threatened, paid, punished and criminalized, to gain your compliance- the thing is no good
