I wondered about that too, but I'm not an engineer so not really sure what the process is. The SE corner of Green Ave intersection is a house, and the NE side is a protected oxbow, then the estate, so where would the east end of the bridge land? Has anyone seen any conceptual drawings or anything?

My question as well. Most construction projects have an artists rendering available. I found nothing in all my searches. As for the pilings, some have gone down more recently. Maybe pound a bit then let things settle then pound more? Not an engineer. But I am 99% sure it is going to be a level crossing, no overpass.
Why use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice.

According to Herald link previously posted a traffic light will be added.

Something interesting I did hear is stainless steel rebar is being used, possibly a fed requirement?

It will be a level crossing just like all of the other Channel crossings. The steel pylons will be pounded down until a determined resistance to further driving is met which is translated into a weight bearing capacity. If the bearing capacity is met, they will cut the steel pylon off at their desired height for the design. If it is not met before they pound the thing into the water, they will weld another section on top and keep pounding until specifications are reached.
A rebar core assembly will then be dropped down inside the pipe and then it will be filled with concrete. These will then be the foundation/anchor supports for the bridge abutments or other bridge or onramp support structures as per design.

one would think that the bridge would be high enough so that the rafters can safely go under it down to Skaha lake??

Thanks for the explanation, twobits. I thought I'd heard mention of a traffic light being installed at the intersection but wasn't sure how all that was going to come together. Sometimes I wish the Warren Ave entrance had a set of lights too. It can be difficult to make a left off of Warren onto the bypass. With the merge lane entering the bypass, many times I've seen people not be able to merge because others almost seem to purposely not leave room for them. I guess that's another topic though.

The channel is Federally controlled and is designated as a navigable waterway. While Joe Public cannot take a powered craft up the Channel from Skaha Lake, the designation means crossing structures must have a minimum clearance from high water marks. I forget what those clearances are, but tubes will easily pass thru just like they do at Industrial Ave. So relax, you will still be able to enjoy your favorite cocktail all the way to Skaha.

Well should not anyways, It is entirely possible to drag a knee-boarder up the channel behind a powerboat, but please do so when the local RCMP Suburban is not close by, or they will stop you and in no uncertain terms tell you to get the &%$# out of The Channel. The Kneeboarder who had no input into the route taken may also be upset in being left to float in the effluent just south of the spot it entered the channel while the above mentioned RCMP dresses-down the boat driver and spotter, who may or may not have been me some 25+ years ago.

But yes the Channel is shallow, but navigable, regs. are no power boats, which include an electric motor ban.

Ahhh, good times...

Ahhh, yes the good times indeed. Similar naive story from the same time frame. Buddy and I, thought it might be interesting to take our Seadoos up the Channel and mingle with the tube folk. We were informed via loudspeaker at the Industrial Ave bridge by the RCMP that powered watercraft were not allowed in the Channel as our wakes could erode the banks. Ok, made sense, so we turned around. Turned into an OJ Simpson pursuit with lights flashing parallel to us as we basically floated down the Channel so as not to erode the banks. Hit the lake to never be seen again. Thank god our K reg #s on the sides were too scuffed and worn to be read.
That is the day I learned that "navigable waterway" did not apply to everyone.

I'll wear that description proudly. Sure came in handy to be able to build all of the homes I've lived in for the last 30 yrs :)

All of the homes? Couldn't build one that lasted? ;)

Funny thing, if you build them well enough, people will want to buy them for more than what you've got into them....

So, just wondering....there would have to be a limit on what could be put in that area would there not?? I can't see a casino/hotel, or anything like that anywhere near that as it is the flight path for the airport. I always thought that you were limited to what you can have in close proximity to an airport. Any input??
