Little Bobtail Lake
This fire is now 13,000 Ha, which is half the size of the OK Mountain Park fire, but keep in mind that the OK Mountain Park fire was only 9,000 Ha when it was five day old.
100% of the Prince George fire district (representing 1/4 of the entire province) is moderate or high fire danger. A fire ban went into place for the entire district yesterday.
Also, this is the largest fire in BC that has started before June 1st since online records began in 2002.

Re: Little Bobtail Lake
Sounds like a busy place, with reinforcements arriving over the last couple of days:
Resources
• 190 firefighters
• 8 helicopters
• 22 heavy equipment
• 7 airtankers
Hopefully they can safely get a handle on this one.

here's an article about it.

British Columbia's premier is calling a wildfire that has already scorched more than 130 square kilometres in the central Interior "alarming," and is warning residents of a "bad forest fire season" ahead.

I suspect by the time it gets re-assessed and updated later today, it will be ~20,000. Minimal growth overnight, but with the gusty winds forecast for today...no bueno. Seems to be picking up speed in the beetle kill.

Absolutely, it plays an essential part in forest renewal reducing fuel load and returning nutrients, as well as making way for fresh growth. It's pretty cool how something so destructive can be so instrumental in regenerating habitat.

24,000 hectares now. I think the 300 firefighters along with cooler temperatures will probably bring it under control soon.

Re: Little Bobtail Lake
We self evacuated late friday night as the wind changed directions and this fire came very close to Llyod Drive on Cluculz Lake. Problem with this fire is it's in an area with a lot of lakes with a lot of cabins and full time homes. When discovered Norman lake residences did not have a chance to grab anything they had to leave immediately. At least we had the chance to pack up. Cluculz Lake has 750 cabin/homes alone. This fire is threatening Little bobtail lake, norman lake, bednesti lake, cluculz lake and graveyard lake. Pretty scary how big it is and close it is to our cabin.

Glad to hear you made it out of the area safely, saigo...I sincerely hope they can get it under further control and you can be back there sooner rather than later. Thanks for taking the time to update us!

Re: Little Bobtail Lake
Recent quiet winds, cool temperatures and high relative humidity numbers have aided fire suppression efforts on the Big Bobtail Lake wildfire. This weather pattern may continue over the next couple days. The chance of precipitation is forecasted starting today until Thursday, with the likelihood increasing every day.
