After watching the choppers saturday attack the fire burning towards cluculz, I totally believe choppers are effective. The wind changed and that was the chance they needed, we never saw bombers, it was chopper after chopper for hours. That end of the lake has pretty exotic homes.

This weeks forecast is 60% rain till saaturday, we got a few drops yesterday and today is blue sky.

First image is from yesterday, it shows how much it has cooled down, second is from friday. They say no structures have been lost I find that amazing considering how many dwellings are on so many different lakes.

I love bucketing..and the refreshing mists they bring :)

And now, for some good news:

Due to favourable conditions yesterday, crews made excellent progress establishing control lines and reinforcing existing ones. This resulted in 30 per cent containment.

Night crews completed burn off operations along the north flank of the fire, eliminating patches of fuel left between the fire perimeter and the guard. Crews may conduct burn off operations this morning again, if conditions allow. While temperatures are cooler, the ignition operations illustrate that there are still dry pockets out there that can easily burn.

Hard work is paying off, more good news:

Much work was completed on the Little Bobtail Lake wildfire today, and it is now 45 per cent contained. Crews continued their burn off operations today along the northern flank of the fire, to create a fuel free area. Thuderstorms were experienced again today, as well as some erratic winds. While there has been rain in the area over the past few days, the majority of this fire has received little to no precipitation.

Convective activity is forecasted again today for the Little Bobtail Lake wildfire, with the chance of some erratic winds. Crews will monitor weather conditions and plan their response accordingly. While crews have been able to make some great progress over the last couple days, there is always the potential for fire behaviour to increase, given that several areas of the fire have not received any precipitation and are still very dry and combustible. Crews will be working very hard to increase containment today.

There's some large thunderstorms moving through the area again. Looks like the entire fire is going to get rained on pretty good.

Rockin' day yesterday for the crews, although some issues still remain:

Crews are still working on establishing full containment of the Little Bobtail Lake wildfire. Containment increased today from 45 per cent to 65 per cent. Crews conducted burn off operations on the eastern flank of the fire to burn leftover fuel between the fire's edge and established guard. This removes fuel from the fire's path and ensures that the wildfire has less chance of reaching, and breaching, the fire guard in place.

Now that guards have been established on several areas of the fire, crews are conducting mop-up along 50 feet of the fire's perimeter, applying water to any remaining areas of open flame and digging up hot spots. Crews continued to see rank 3 fire behaviour today. This is a vigorous surface fire with a moderate rate of spread. This type of fire behaviour may display "candling," which is when a tree's fuels ignite and flare up, along the perimeter and/or within the fire.

it looked much better out there yesterday, although crews did stop in at properties to assess structures in case it decides to move our way, it's 6 km from Lloyd Dr.

At 4:40pm PDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm 25 km southeast of Prince George. It is moving northwest towards Prince George at 35 km/h. It is capable of producing strong wind gusts, hail and heavy rain.

Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Avoid driving through water on roads. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

If it heads west it will go right over the fire area.

It didn't amount to much huge wind gusts and a major 5 minute down pour. But it's now 85% contained.

• 0% mop up

Containment continues to rise on the Little Bobtail Lake wildfire and it is now 80 per cent contained. Crews have been identifying and extinguishing hot spots, establishing a wet line around the fire perimeter and completing guard lines. Overnight, crews will be monitoring any flare ups and completing patrols of several areas of the fire. Helicopters and heavy equipment will continue to assist ground crews tomorrow.

Fresh news from this morning:

Quiet winds, cool temperatures and high relative humidity numbers aided fire suppression efforts yesterday on the Little Bobtail Lake wildfire. However, forest fuels are still very dry and the potential for fire behaviour to increase is still there. Crews are continuing to create a wet line around the fire perimeter. Crews were onsite overnight to monitor any hot spots and flare ups.
