What a joke. Why issue the warning after 90% of the rain has fallen? Osoyoos gets 25mm overnight so they issue rainfall warning that we can expect up to 25mm by this morning after the fact. The biggest May is a wet month in Osoyoos. The record is over 52mm in one day from back in 1998. Penticton only had 17 mm that day.

Yup. It came from Errorvironment Canada. Never any accuracy there. Interesting # of fires chart from Glacier. Almost gives credence to that argument that global warming ended approx. 2000. Been cooling ever since. Perhaps another Little Ice Age?

Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for:

Central Okanagan - including Kelowna
North Okanagan - including Vernon
South Okanagan - including Penticton
Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing large hail and heavy rain.

A line of thunderstorms will develop near noon as an upper disturbance moves over the region. The main threat will be isolated heavy downpours giving 15 to 25 mm within one hour. A watch is upgraded to a warning when severe thunderstorms are imminent.

Fast moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle away. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Bad news is that the dirt goes dry as fast as it falls. We need more rain over a longer period of time.

Actually they talk about California would need 1 foot or more of rain in a month strait to get out of the drought. Or even the at least kind of recover in the food producing areas at least 6 inches. Ouch... On the map you see washington...well we are not on the map but above the red part that requires 1 foot as well around here.. these figures are from 2014 so its probably worse now.

But I love what California is doing....Fines of 500 bucks. that was from last year. Parents were down there this last month and they said its even getting worse that they are banning all watering on lawns right now with a hefty fine that they are thinkin 1000 dollats per.....and anyone that reports and its anonymous, they can get up to 50 bucks to report it in. Not bad...I wish they would do that...I would be making a killing here.

^California continues to use the same amount of water that they did before.

California is in its fourth year in the worst drought the state has seen in 1,200 years.

Yet many Californians continue to use virtually the same amounts of water they were using before the drought began.

Some have cited almonds as the culprit, since the tasty snack use a whole gallon of water per nut.

Compared with noshing on a few almonds, though, many other activities are far worse in terms of the amount of water they require, from watering huge lawns to keeping sprawling waterparks open all season.

The upside to the prolonged drought in California? One source suggests fire seasons expected to be a little calmer than usual, because there was virtually no green up this year.

Things have cooled off a little which is good. Still pretty dry up north but it sounds like there's some rain storms moving through there today and tonight. Also some thunderstorms which isn't very good when it's that dry.

Dry may turned into a soggy may pretty quickly! There's a 100% chance of rain for almost the entire northern half of the province tomorrow. Everything from Dease Lake to Fort Nelson to Fort St. John. There will be a drying trend after that.
