There was a thunderstorm that moved through the area yesterday evening but I doubt it was lightning caused. The fuels in the picture look like grass and spaced trees, those fuels usually don't smolder following a lightning strike. It's probably human caused.

An evacuation alert has been issued for some streets in the Magic Estates area, however, witnesses at the scene said it appears the fire is dying down.

An evacuation alert has been issued due to a brush fire burning in Knox Mountain Park. Kelowna Fire Department has 30 members responding to the blaze.

Residents living on the following streets are on an Evacuation Alert Notice and should be ready to leave in a moment's notice, with important items packed and ready to take with:
Woodpark Court
Woodpark Crescent
Avonlea Way
Lambeth Court
Camelot Court
Pendragon Place

Was there any helicopters on scene? Too dark now but they definitely could've been there when it was first reported.

Did they eventually end up calling Wildfire Management Branch? It's mentioned in the Castanet article that as of 8:45 Kamloops Fire Center hadn't received a request for help.

I'm sure they'll have it under control soon, they just need to get the equipment up there first then they can spray it down.

The brush fire in Knox Mountain Park, north of the caretaker’s cabin, is now contained.

Time to go to bed. Hats off to the firefighters for their professional work.
