Smoke above Peachland?
I'm looking across the lake and see smoke high in the hills. Anyone heard anything?

watching from upper Princeton Ave as three small water bombers are dumping water on it. IT is just above the boundaries from the looks of it......

Seriously can we not go a single day without a fire? This is pathetic.

4 float planes and one larger guy are on this right now.
Looks to be in the area of the landfill/yard waste dump
Global Okanagan just arrived & started filming

Re: Smoke above Peachland?
Human caused it would seem as there has been no lightning here and it appears to be adjacent area to the dirt road. It stuns me that forestry has not banned all fires in the Okanagan. I mean really is this wise.....tourists don't need a fire to enjoy this area.
I wondered about the landfill also, but it seems to be higher up the mountain......second mountain up from the riding club.
I know there is road up behind there and partiers were up there on the May long weekend with fire on top of the first mtn.
This is the second one up Princeton, not the May weekend place.

They are still working it with all planes and retardants. Like a warzone overhead. We had wind down toward us and that isn't good news for the fire.

You can't say that, unless you are 100% sure, we will know soon enough, could be anything. Please don't jump to conclusions until all facts are in, thank you.

Re: Smoke above Peachland?
The fire has over tripled in size and is now covering 3 hectares, according to Kelsey Winter, fire information officer for the Kamloops Fire Centre.
Despite this growth, fire crews have completely surrounded the blaze with fire retardant.

Re: Smoke above Peachland?
There is still some light smoke rising from the fire north of the Zip Zone Peachland but it seems contained. Fire crews have a rubber water pond and lines into bush to mop up.
