Re: RAIN!
The rain is good indeed! Not sure it is enough but we have to take what we can get. I am pretty sure if you went into the woods and pulled the top layer of pine needles away it will still be dry underneath.
Have to say the fire crews are doing a fantastic job making sure these fires don't get away on them! Very impressed!

Re: RAIN!
Just checked this out, below our property is treed grass land and if you scape thru the pine needles/dead grass its dry about 1/2 to 3/4 inch below the top surface. And with the sun out now what was wet will be dried out in no time.

Yes, but the trees and shrubs drink up the rain. More moisture in the fuels reduces fire intensity.

Thunderstorms can deliver more rain in 10 minutes than your average rain storm can in a few hours. Unfortunately, even if it rains significantly, the lightning strikes can still smolder for days or even weeks before flaring up during drier weather.

Which isn't good when the ground is so dry and can't absorb the rain. Flooding and cars swept away kind of stuff.

Re: RAIN!
I wouldn't be too concerned - nothing you can do about the weather. The 30% chance of rain coming to Kelowna could mean not too much will fall here either.
