Re: RAIN!
Which isn't good when the ground is so dry and can't absorb the rain. Flooding and cars swept away kind of stuff.

Re: RAIN!
I don't think the rain in Kelowna yesterday will keep the danger rating down for very long. Especially with nothing but hot and sunny weather in the forecast. Still a chance for thunderstorms today though.
Tonight Partly cloudy with 30 percent chance of showers early this evening and risk of severe thunderstorms. Clearing this evening. Low 18.
Wed, 1 Jul Sunny. Wind becoming north 20 km/h late in the morning. High 31. UV index 8 or very high.
Night Clear. Wind north 20 km/h becoming light in the evening. Low 16.

Night Clear. Low 18.
Fri, 3 Jul Sunny. High 34.

Re: RAIN!
News article was posted at 6:35 pm today
A late-afternoon thunderstorm that dumped torrential rains on Kamloops has flooded a trailer park and forced to the evacuation of about 100 people, says the city's fire chief.
The storm struck Tuesday at about 4 p.m., and it wasn't long before about a metre of water collected in the area of the Oak Hills trailer park.

Re: RAIN!
Kamloops is by far the driest city in Canada outside of the territories, so don't expect this sort of thing every year, and please don't lose heart and move back to Kelowna when you discover the fact that Kelowna is almost 40% wetter than Kamloops.
This Kamloops trailer park of Oak Hills is a notorious water collection spot. In fact, the city recently upgraded the storm pump in the area to handle major flash floods because the trailer park often gets flooding during big downpours. There was debate as to how big to make the pumping capacity, and judging from the news yesterday it looks like they opted for the smaller option.
BTW, even though the storm missed the airport, it was the 2nd rainiest June and the 4th rainiest month on record at the airport! 82.5mm of rain fell.

Re: RAIN!
The danger rating in the central okanagan will probably rise quickly over the next few days, significantly less precipitation there. Not as hot as last week but still above average. 7 day forecasts change pretty quickly in the summer though, I'd be surprised if the week goes by without a thunderstorm.
