I wish castanet wouldn't put headlines like " black bear flees raging fire".
I think we all know that thousands of animals die horrid deaths in forest fires.
It's horrid enough without the headlines.

The media makes a lot of money from stories about the fires. They will post anything that will get them more views.

*Edit, castanet is usually pretty good for information and doesn't post stories like that very often.

The sad part is that obviously such emotionalized garbage "sells" or it would not be there. Or would appear in a different. less emotionalized, format.

After today it will get cooler and rainy. We actually had nicer weather in May. Hopefully our early summer isn't ending early? Oh well, I can put up with a week of rain if it's going to lower the danger rating.

Today A mix of sun and cloud. 30 percent chance of showers early this morning. 60 percent chance of showers or thunderstorms this afternoon. Local smoke. Wind becoming south 20 km/h early this afternoon. High 31. UV index 8 or very high.
Tonight Partly cloudy. 60 percent chance of showers or thunderstorms this evening. Low 16.

Sun, 12 Jul A mix of sun and cloud. 60 percent chance of showers in the afternoon with risk of a thunderstorm. Wind becoming south 20 km/h early in the afternoon. High 25.
Night Showers. Low 14.

Mon, 13 Jul Showers. High 25.
Night Showers. Low 14.

Tue, 14 Jul Cloudy with 70 percent chance of showers. High 24.
Night Cloudy periods. Low 15.

Wed, 15 Jul A mix of sun and cloud. High 28.
Night Cloudy periods. Low 15.

Thu, 16 Jul A mix of sun and cloud with 40 percent chance of showers. High 26.
Night Cloudy with 60 percent chance of showers. Low 15.

Fri, 17 Jul Cloudy with 60 percent chance of showers. High 26.

July 8th compared to July 11th. Looks much better already, and there's way more rain in the forecast.

Yeah I noticed that too. Usually all the weather sites offer the same forecast but this week they've got different opinions. Here's kelowna's environment canada vs weather network forecast.

The government needs to get tough on people that start forest fires. I know it's hard to prove. But if someone is found guilty, there should be a minimum 6 months jail sentence. If we see people flicking buts out the window, we should take a picture of the car and licence and post it. There is a web page called @hi* parkers of Kelowna. Someone should start a web page, "Butt heads of western Canada" or "Butt Heads of BC." I would but i don't have time or really know how to. Someone please start a web page, we need to shame these people.
