It very likely is lighting, its been showing all around for sometime on both sides of the lake. I can hear it rumbling away. Lots of flashes happening too.

Bear Creek Fire growing
Posted on 7/19/2015 by AM 1150

West Kelowna Fire Chief Jason Brolund says the Bear Creek fire is now between one and two hectares in size and is burning up the Bear Creek Canyon.

Brolund says the fire began just near the Break Creek Park parking lot. 15 members of the West Kelowna fire department are on the ground assisting air crews from the BC Wildfire management Branch.

Brolund says firefighters are incredibly fortunate so far in that winds remain calm. He says campers at Bear Creek Provincial Park are in no danger at this point as the fire is moving away from the campground.

Yes they're lucky with the light wind, those nearby thunderstorms could've really brought in some gusts.

Fire above Westside Rd across from OK Centre

Post by CEB »

Noticed it ~15-20 mins ago and tried to call it in but got busy/high volume messages, kinda scary from an emergency response angle.
2 Helis on it, hopefully they have time before night. Need some bodies on the ground

Here's a link to the map of the lightening strikes as a few mins ago. That is more strikes then 15 mins ago and more coming in. :(

You can see BC up in the far left corner and that center part of all the strikes is the lake.
I posted just the link as its a big picture.

CEB ^ - you know it's been going since 5? Don't plug up emerg lines, that's why they are busy... If there's 2 helicopters I'm sure they know about it. ( there were also 3 planes earlier)
