This morning it looked calm with some small plumes but it seems to be flaring up again

...hard to tell from my viewpoint, but it appears that things have intensified somewhat on the south end of the fire...increased heavy dark smoke over the last hour...anyone with a better vantage point able to update?...

Still do not see any helis with buckets working this fire.

Watched all morning with telescope large forestry crews cutting down trees and creating another fire guard on the middle section of the south flank.

Within the last few minutes the fire has slowly crossed where I was watching the forestry crews working. Several spots on what looked to be a fire guard the fire has crossed.

Looks like fire behavior is picking up a bit, I see more smoke now.

Yep it is more active. I'm out in Winfield and can see trees candling with my binoculars. The smoke has changed again from dark brown to white.

From what I see it's a flare up on the south flank that's producing the smoke.

Saw one a few minutes ago dump retardant at the top of the south flank, theres another one that is circling.

The boss is circling and there's one Convair dumping. Two air tractors over Chute Lake now inbound from Penticton.

They assign resources based on fire behavior, minimal activity means minimal resources.

Elecktra (sp) has joined in, they are starting to lay retardant close to the middle of the south flank where the fire is more active.
