They should have put air support on the fire in the morning to put out hot spots, instead of waiting for it to flare up and then sending resources in the afternoon.

Good, hopefully they can knock it down before the sun sets. With the winds blowing south like that it could explode over the ridge.

The helis have moved from the south end and are now dumping on the north end of the fire.

I'm having trouble finding the fire they should have had the air support on?

Now they are dumping everywhere, north and a couple have moved back to the active smoke column at the south end. Seeing lots of flames and trees candling in this area. They have dumped fire retardant today on the left side and a couple of dumps of retardant at the bottom of the smoke column. Hope it holds but last night it didn't.

Winds are starting to pick up more, still from the north, small gusts out on the lake.

...and maybe, just maybe, those overseeing the wildfire management can draw on their extensive experience and have a broader scope of the picture and know what's best in how, when and where to deploy particular resources...wildfire management is more than just dumping as much water and retardant on any given area in as short a time period as possible...not to mention as has previously been pointed out (see driptorch's map above) there's more than just a couple of fires in the province - and there's only so many resources to deploy..."stretched to the limit" was a comment made the other day by provincial wildfire management...

...Environment Canada still showing northerly flow for the rest of the evening, switching back to southerly tomorrow...hopefully it's light winds in both cases...
