It looks like the only extreme dry spots are Chetwynd, Middle Lake, and Tatla Lake.

Don't let the recent rain deceive you, with the conditions forecasted it won't be long before we're back under the high / extreme rating again.

Some areas of the okanagan are already at a high danger rating.

Over the longer term most of the foliage visible in the Okanagan Valleys will be gone. Fires will be part of the reason due to increasingly high temperatures and lessening rainfall. Take a drive through Northern Arizona if you want to visualize the Okanagan around 2050. Note the elevations at which the trees start ... and end.

Green patches will depend on available irregation, as in California at the moment.

Over the longer term most of the foliage visible in the Okanagan Valleys will be gone.

If so, it will migrate northward. If you like Okanagan weather, then you will have to live in Prince George.

Here's a question for you: why are there rattlesnakes in Kamloops and rattlesnakes in Vernon, but none in between? How did the rattlesnakes get to Kamloops? Here's my answer: because in the past the world was much hotter and drier than it is today, so rattlesnakes were living in Falkland, Monte Lake, etc., and then as the world cooled, their range contracted to what it is today.

The latest estimate is that the equatorial winds will move present weather patterns 300 to 500 MILES north and south of the equator. That is aside from the effects that conditions such as terrain, elevations and distance from the ocean have on local weather. Canada and Russia will be one of only two countries in the world that will keep their food producing ability and water requirements.
