Scan BC.
I'm also on a FB page that is talking about it, but guessing that's not reliable.

Social media is being much maligned lately. I find the regular news channels are slightly better, but they too have been proven wrong when they've rushed to be "first" or are guessing just before deadline.
Having said that, I hope they hit this fire very hard. There are lots of beautiful stands of Ponderosa Pines up there, not to mention horse farms, livestock and houses.

As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?

^^^ And this is why I don't understand why people get up in a huff when things posted on here aren't always correct. A forum is one of the worst forms of social media!
That being said, when someone on Facebook posts that they are close to a new fire or can view it from their place, it's hard not to believe them.

Lightning?
Do you think from today or a strike from a few days ago that just never took off?

Thanks for the map Troy. I was thinking closer to White Lake Observatory but was not sure if it was closer to Keremeos, Olalla or Cawston as well. The mountain range is deceptive when you are in the valley.

Re: Willowbrook Fire
Willowbrook and the Royal Dominion Observatory are not far apart. When we drive up there on Green Lake Road and meet up with White Lake Road, there's only a few small hills between the intersect and the observatory.
And that area is largely protected by the Nature Trust of BC, which has already been hit hard by a fire a few years ago.
Lots of Meadow Lark nests and Blue Bird boxes up there too. I feel sick.
