a new fly through video:
we have a high wind warning for tomorrow with gust of 60 mph in the valley, 70 mph in the mountains. not really looking forward to that.

Re: Where are the fires?
from what i am reading this morning, even though we had a monster wind here yesterday, all or most of the fire lines held! amazing! and it rained this morning! :D
this is the wind/dust storm yesterday on the burn across the valley from me. that's not smoke, it's dust.
this is looking towards Tonasket, which is about 2 miles away. lol

Re: Where are the fires?
we did get rain! :) and it's much cooler. that's going to help a lot i'm sure. it's getting pretty windy here now which isn't a good thing, but we'll take what we can get. there was a new fire that started last night, several miles to the west of me, far enough that i wasn't too worried and this is what it looks like today. :D

Much clearer day than yesterday's dust pics. Glad you got some rain and cooler temperatures, hope it continues.

Ferri, I'm committed to travelling the same road Mr. QK and I took through to Chesaw and Molson just to re-photograph whatever heritage buildings are still standing.
We missed a few and am I ever upset about that.
Got lots of rain here, but you guys need it South more, I hope you're getting it.

Re: Where are the fires?
and now a lightning storm is going through Oroville area. i've already read there is a new fire. the wind is gusting at about 20 mph. :p
also, i read this today:
also, i read this today:
Okanogan County Emergency Management
Does rain help firefighting efforts? The answer is a definite MAYBE. The rain slows the fire spread and lowers flame intensity allowing firefighters to directly attack the fire front. In forested areas much of this rain is intercepted by the tree canopy and may never reach the forest floor. Rain exposes firefighters to additional safety hazards due to slick walking conditions and muddy or slick roads. The most favorable rain for firefighters is a week of steady soaking rain or snow. This is called a "season ending" event. The rain we are currently experiencing is NOT a "season ending" event. So, please be vigilant with the possibility of new fire starts

Oroville area. NOT Good. Not fair, there's a lot of heritage buildings in that area.
