Wild Turkeys?

Looking for a spot to 'view' some wild turkeys , north or south Ok. Any recent sightings ?

They're not so common in the Okanagan, in fact I don't remember ever seeing them here, but lots of 'em in the Kootenays. I almost hit some that ran across Hwy 22 in front of me near Trail the other day. They were HUGE, I'd bet some were 50 pounds or more.

I've only ever seen them just south of the border near Creston.

I've heard but never seen that there might be some in 8-12. I've heard Rock Creek may have a few though. Princeton too.

Lots of turkeys on the Commonage near Vernon. They come down to our place on Eastside Road, usually from November through March. Brushy Bill, if it's a 'view' you are after (and not a kill...), PM me and I will message you when we see 'em this year.

They are here. Just very tough to find. A few years ago I bagged a beauty up Carmi. Wasn't looking for it at the time but what a treat!

Hey guys have you been following the election stuff. There are a few turkeys gobbling around. At least a good number of them will be found in Ottawa after Monday!

I saw a whole bunch right in Beaverdell the other day. I'd also seen a big flock (herd?? gaggle??) in Salmo. One was in a damned tree sitting on this little *bleep* branch. It defied gravity.

Watched a large flock in the field behind the Creston Tim Hortons last week.

Have also seen them up Beaver Creek, but of course they were on private land.

I know a turkey that lives up SS Road, but he doesn't have many feathers left on him. ;)

They ain't 50lbs. Once there isn't a lot underneath those feathers.

And I bet a couple of the above noted local sightings may be grouse...

I doubt anyone is confusing the wild turkeys in the Okanagan (which I've seen) to grouse.

The photos I've seen on hunting forums have them dressed out at about 25 pounds. They look heavier than what they are.
