Actually the long form census provides a lot of important data for things like proper allocation of transit dollars etc. etc. and as such pays for itself handsomely.

Many, many, economists said that the lack of this accurate data was costing local and provincial governments a ton of money.

http://www.thestar.com/opinion/editorials/2015/02/05/long-form-census-is-needed-for-good-decision-making-editorial.html

"The evidence is mounting that the Harper government’s decision to do away with the compulsory long-form census and replace it with a voluntary National Household Survey – which cost $22 million more to produce – is costing Canada dearly. "
The middle path - everything in moderation, and everything in its time and order.

Costing governments? Seriously? Do you really think anything costs governments? The money all comes from the same sources, be it municipal, provincial, or federal governments - and that source is YOU. Who collects it from YOU is irrelevant to what you're left with at the end of the day.

Ignorance costing money? What an elusive concept for some.

LOLOLOL!!! Seriously? Yes, the money does all come from our taxes. When we say something costs government,
we mean it really costs us. Better?

Yep, we tax payers don't even get a kiss after being screwed, but why does the money all have to come from us?
What about payment for cutting and using our trees, Payment for our oil, Payment for our minerals, payment for our power exports, and for our fish to name just a few..

Who pays those taxes? Ever buy a 2x4, a gallon of gas, a piece of angle iron? Do you realize as a consumer you pay for any increased taxes on the company who produces the goods? And yeah, if you pay more for the products, you also pay more sales taxes on them. The left just doesn't have a clue where the money for taxes comes from.

If in in fact your assumption is true , which it does not appear to be . we could tear up Cannan's pension similar to how Campbell tore up the HEU contract with Bill 29 to cover the extra cost : )
