Now wild turkeys...I have lived in and around Kelowna and Penticton for close to 50 years. I have never seen a wild turkey here. My friend owned a motel in Radium, and they were all over the place.

I know a turkey that lives up SS Road, but he doesn't have many feathers left on him. ;)

But do you really KNOW him ?

I'd say out of all the birds, ducks, geese, chickens, turkey, guinea fowl... turkeys are my favourite.

And from what I understand, the most meat for your $$$ if raising them? , they are efficient eaters.

Back home, we called them "walking birds".

Hoping to get out and film some wild birds as they will be pretty active at this time of year strutting their stuff. It's pretty cool if you've never seen it before. If anyone has seen some recently, I'd love to hear it.

I've seen wild turkeys in Vernon before.

A Vernon couple reportedly witnessed a cougar devour a wild turkey from their deck on Friday morning.

Dave Henry, a resident living in Harbour Heights near the Vernon Yacht Club, posted news of the sighting in the Vernon Rant and Rave Facebook page around 10:00 a.m.

Henry’s wife, Jill, was shovelling the deck when a commotion suddenly broke out in her back yard.

“We get wild turkeys every day and there was a whole bunch of them,” she explained. “All of a sudden all the turkeys just flew through the air, higher than I’ve ever seen them fly, and they went to the tops of the really tall pine trees.”

Saw some wild Turkey at the liquor store the other day

Back in the 70's the local Fish and Game Clubs released hundreds of wild turkeys in Kelowna all the way up to the Commonage.

The ones in Kelowna/Glenmore were shot out within 2 years even though they had been protected. For awhile they were everywhere in gardens and in the orchards that used to be there.

Nice to hear that a population has survived...

Can be seen up Commonage fairly frequently.
