Small Fire In Smith Creek Area

Post by Treblehook »

May 20th, and we have a fire in the bush near Smith Creek. Every time I have gone into that area to hike, I have witnessed unsupervised youth riding trail bikes in that area. It is not we will have a huge wildfire to contend with, rather when!!! I keep wondering what some of the parents of these kids are thinking when they provide these bikes to their kids and turn them loose. Half them are poorly maintained which makes them highly likely to spark a forest fire. No lightning in this area for quite some time, so it is a safe bet that the fire today was human caused. Disgusting.

At the top of that draw Kids (yes kids as I have witnessed them there) have built a small wood and tarp shack for partying (yes I have witnessed that too). It would be in every ones best interest if that was torn down and the party spot torn apart. I will be talking to neighbors to see if we can get a work party together to that end.
Never argue with an idiot, they will just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Don't need a work party, my wife and I have tore down a few of these, have some nice tarps to show for our efforts. The makeshift party camps do tend to have fire pits however the empties indicate things could easily get out of control with a bunch of drunk teens.

I don't recall ever hearing of a forest fire being started by a dirtbike or a quad but hey some folks just need to blame atvs because they don't like them that's whats disgusting

oh I'm not saying it doesn't happen but a whole lot more are from unattended camp fires from hikers and campers and I don't recall a fire in this area that's been started by an atv

It would be pretty hard to determine unless someone came forward and confessed or witnessed it happening.
Whereas a fire can be followed back to it's origins if it was caused by a campfire.

and where exactly did I say an atv has never started a fire I said I have never heard of it happening and that's most likely because it rarely does try paying attention and read it again
