No tomatoes this year. My carrots are self seeding so I'll have lots of them.

Awesome radishes this year...ready to plant another row. Radishes and carrots love sandy loose soil.

We have huge saskatoon berries and we are eating saskatoon berry pie right now. I may keep the bushes yet.

I said, "come on over and take a look to see if you like them." There's still berries on the branches, not too late.
Oh, and I've got several volunteers coming up and they will need to be potted up and re-homed.

I counted FIVE saskatoon berry bush volunteers. They will take three years to get really big and full of berries. The first three years they produce but mostly for fresh immediate eating. By year four then you get out the recipe books and canning jars.
The berries were huge this year. Bman gets a pick of the litter. I suggest two at a time for pollination.

I planted the rest of my plants today. I picked my radishes and set them on a chair to take care of when I was done. My MIL's dogs are staying with us. Apparently, they like radishes! Who knew?
I haven't failed until I quit.

Re: Gardening 2016: Fruits, Veggies, Flowers
I've seen dogs eat carrots, but radishes? Isn't that gonna burn their behinds abit?
I have spent the entire last four hours doing garden clean up. It's astonishing how the plants are settling in for giving seeds already and it's not even July. I like self-seeders, but I limit how many seeds hit the ground, poppies I encourage, but no matter if they grow where I don't want them, I pull.
Right now I'm taking a break, for once I planted huge sunlovers out front. Took out what isn't working in that soil. Added huge amounts of compost and mixed it in.
What does one do with an abundance of xeriscape sedums? I'm removing them for the others.

I managed to save about half of them, and I reseeded them too. Surprising that they ate them though, and then went back for more! I really hope they don't get a tummy ache - maybe I should have them sleep on the deck tonight . . .ferri wrote:LOL this is crazy! sorry to hear you lost your radishes!
