It is summer. Check the calendar or try Google. Summer starts near the end of June.

What was meant by that is that we are lucky from a fire point of view that we are not getting typical dry summer weather. If it had been like that, then it could have gotten out of control. Or in other words 'summer' was meant to be a faintly sarcastic commentary on current conditions
