It must be a really slow fire season because...

Post by Glacier »

... this is news: http://www.castanet.net/edition/news-st ... htm#171720

This is one of the most remote places in the entire province, some 40 km from the nearest home. No reason to do anything but let it burn itself out. Extreme fire danger in the area though:

Fire crews are on the scene of a large grass fire near the campus of UBC Okanagan.

The fire is burning in an area below a housing development.

Local firefighters are working the fire.

Wish it were a slow news year for fires.

It's so cold and wet this year people are dying from snow, not fire. This story takes place right near where the story in the OP does... http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-c ... -1.3700159

I just learned from my fire fighting friends that in a normal year they'd let this fire burn out on its own since there's a zero percent chance that it would ever spread anywhere close to any habitation, but this has been a slow fire year, so they decided to send a smash of people there to get some practice in.
