I have seen several idiots driving along flicking their ashes and cigarettes out the window!

There are four identifiers on the "are you an idiot" assessment test.

Flicking ashes and cigarettes out of the window is third on "definitely an idiot" list. Being a dangerously stupid driver is first.

28 unattended camp fires over the august long weekend found in the Kamloops fire district and not a peep about it from the anti smoking crowd. Yet a couple idiots flick an ash out the window and suddenly were talking about idiots potencially causing fires. Just saying. :fence:

Leaving campfires burning when you leave is number two on the "certified idiot" assessment test. Not putting out your cigarette before discarding it is number three on the assessment test. Such people have cost Canada BILLIONS of dollars over the years.

Three or four idiots camping together is called "dolting".

I for one am most grateful and appreciative that the news reports this summer have not been filled with that overused term from prior years. To be granted reprieve from the word "tinder" is truly a prize
I have learned that to be with those I like is enough.

and that's how easy it is when it's this hot and dry.

The fire was caused by a farmer working on the property shooting a bird-scare gun. A cartridge landed in the grass, which caught flame.

There is a forest fire just near the provincial campground at Okanagan Falls. This is a dangerous location for evacuation. Disappointing that Castanets Penticton reporter is not on this.

I agree.. I'm hearing part of OK Falls has been evacuated as it's very close to the highway and bridge.

I'm pretty sure Green Lake road is being evacuated. The town itself is probably relatively safe as the fire is across the river. If I lived near the school I would be packing right now though.

Douse that campfire!

The BC Wildfire Service is urging campers and backcountry enthusiasts to take better care with campfires.

A rash of abandoned campfires in the Cariboo Fire Centre the past few weeks led to the warning.

Campfire must fully extinguished before leaving for any extended period.

While temperatures are expected to cool over the coming days, little rain is forecast and gusty winds are possible.

Wildfires are easily started when winds blow sparks and embers into surrounding forests.
