Here is correspondence between Jesus and the King of Edessa. Edessa is in today's eastern Turkey.

The King is asking Jesus for help from an illness.....

A copy of a letter written by Abgarus the toparch to Jesus, and sent to him by means of Ananias the runner, to Jerusalem.

Interesting fact that King Abgarus Kingdom of Armenia became the first nation to become Christian in 300 AD.....

Abgar V the Black or Abgarus V of Edessa was a historical Armenian ruler of the kingdom of Osroene, holding his capital at Edessa. He was converted to Christianity by Thaddeus, one of the Seventy-two Disciples.

Well.

A friend sent me a link to the OP a few days ago, I was intrigued and decided to post, for the sake of interesting conversation and all. I decided to check online hoping to find a live stream for the October 19th seminar, and um, yeah, the OP was from 2013!

Ugh, I am so embarrassed right now, my apologies people. I will make sure to verify what I choose to post, hence forth.

Still friends?

It has never been proven that jesus existed, nothing more than speculation

It is not unreasonable to draw parallels between religions predating christianity by 1000's of years, especially when the recorded history of those religions contradict christian claims.

Everyone knows (or should) that genesis is nonsense/lies written from the viewpoint of ignorant goat herders, if it wasn't then where is the part about dinosaurs having dominion over the earth for more than 100 million years?

Maybe instead of reading skeptic type websites you should actually read some history by credible sources or ancient historians....by the way with respect it's Jesus....

The Cross on which Jesus was crucified was found in Golgotha in 326 AD

Elevation of the Holy Cross

The finding of the Cross by the Empress Helen (the mother of St. Constantine the Great) on Golgotha in 326 AD, the place where Christ was crucified.
On the spot where the Cross was discovered, St. Helen had found a hitherto unknown flower of rare beauty and fragrance, which has been named "Vasiliko," or Basil, meaning the flower of royalty. Note that the word "Vasiliko" means "of the King," since the word "Basileus" in Greek means "King"; so, the plant Vasiliko, Basil, is tied to the Precious Cross of the King of Glory, our Lord Jesus Christ.

Must be true.

No one could have been fooled way back then.

It's not like anyone could have manufactured "The True Cross" or anything like that.

LOL.....you should have read the website https://orthodoxwiki.org/Elevation_of_t ... _Crossthat I posted and you wouldn't make yourself look so foolish....

The True Cross brought down the whole Persian Sassanid Empire.....They were fighting over the Cross. Read your history, you might learn something. Quit reading debunking and skeptic websites. They twist your minds into nothing.....

The recovery of the Cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified from the Persians. The Persians had captured the True Cross as a prize of war when they sacked Jerusalem in 614 AD. It was recovered by the forces of the Byzantine Empire (Eastern Roman Empire) in 627 AD, when Emperor Heraclius decisively defeated the Sassanid Persians at The Battle of Nineveh, surrounding their capital Ctesiphon, recovering the True Cross, and breaking the power of the Sassanid dynasty. The Elevation took place on March 21, 630 AD, when Emperor Heraclius entered Jerusalem amidst great rejoicing, and together with Patriarch Zacharios (609-632), transferred the Cross of Christ with great solemnity into the temple of the Resurrection, joyously held up for veneration by the Christian faithful.

Sheesh, the level of misinformation coming from you is staggering, do you think you're the only person in the room with a computer?

I'll start with this post.

A 147 year old Jacob dragging a stone of questionable origin around is hardly an indication jesus existed, nice try though (the pictures were a nice touch)

If any archeological evidence exists, and is backed up in a peer-reviewed archeological publication (like say this one https://www.archaeological.org/), that the bible version of Jacob ever existed please let me know ok? In the meantime I dismiss the notion of any human living to the ripe old age of 147 years old, as should you.

(I don't believe noah was 600 either)

Jesus in Glastonbury England.....viewtopic.php?f=16&t=55732

A four year study by archaeologists has comprehensively demolished cherished myths about one of the most romantic religious sites in England, Glastonbury Abbey.

Those feet, immortalised in William Blake’s poem Jerusalem, never walked on the green and pleasant land of Glastonbury; the oldest church in England was not built there by Christ’s disciples; Joseph of Arimathea’s walking stick does not miraculously flower every Christmas after 2,000 years. And it turns out that the supposed link with King Arthur and his beautiful queen, Guinevere, is false too – invented by 12th-century monks faced with a financial crisis in the wake of a disastrous fire.

Furthermore the team of 31 specialists, led by Roberta Gilchrist, professor of archaeology at the University of Reading, found that generations of her predecessors working at the abbey were so bewitched by the legends that they either suppressed or misinterpreted evidence that did not fit.

Perhaps you could launch your own study, I promise to be here in 4 years when you return with your conclusive evidence

LOL He wasn't dragging at that age. His family was. Silly littler answer.

Why don't you answer my postings instead of just making snide remarks....you have been given some big tasks to dispute....

You need to back up your comments.....I have! :smt045

From National Geographic;

I’m not sure if that is a distinction that would have made a lot of sense to anyone in the first century. There was no distinction between evangelistic propaganda and what the writers themselves believed to be true. From a modern viewpoint, it’s hard to see the Gospels as unvarnished, truthful accounts. The journalistic impulse didn’t exist back then. People’s partisan beliefs that magic and divinity were at work in the world were overriding. Today we would call it creative non-fiction, with the emphasis on “creative.”

I hope National Geographic passes the whole

Joseph of Arimathea:Biblical & Legendary Accounts

Start reading.....http://docplayer.net/20912977-Joseph-of ... ounts.html

Also you need to checkout the ancient British history book the Domesday book where it is recorded that Joseph of Armithea was given 12 hides of land at Glastonbury....

Traditionally, the twelve Hides of Land of the Church of Glastonbury, descend from an original grant given to Joseph of Arimathaea, by King Arviragus (10 -74 AD). The Glastonbury tradition claims that, after arriving in Britain in 63 AD, Joseph pushed his staff into the ground on Wearyall Hill and this grew into the Glastonbury Thorn, flowering every Christmas.

I REALLY like this post.

So the Battle of Yarmuk was really the Battle of the True Cross?

That's rich.

The world in the early years of the 7th century AD.After death of Mohammad, prophet of islam his followers have united the arabian peninsula under the banner of the new religion.Meanwhile, the 2 great superpowers of the eastern world-The Byzantines of constantinopole and Sassanid persians have waged a relentless and brutal conflict nearly continously from 572 AD for 50 yrs severely depleting their resources, devastating each others manpower base in population and veteran soldiers as well as exhausting the treasury. After early persian victories,a byzantine counterattack under Emperor heraclius has finally revived byzantine power and control over syria and egypt and ends the war at the Battle of Nineveh.A peace is finally signed in 628 AD.

The problem Joe is your continued misrepresentation of facts, one might even believe you're doing it on purpose..

But you wouldn't do that now would you [/sarcasm]
