Do you think the people of Nova Scotia were denying the obvious when they thought that their provincial NDP would be the answer to their Liberal problems? Let's not make the same mistake here.

While the NDP made history in 2009 by forming the first New Democrat government of Nova Scotia — and the first in Atlantic Canada. But, they’ll be the first incumbent to be voted out after just one term in 131 years.

The province's contractual obligations are there for our benefit. I posted a partial list of them a few weeks back and not one poster found fault with the actual programs. And again, "debt" is one thing and "contractual obligations" another.

I don't know why you are focusing on the contractual obligations but I for one am concerned about the debt. And that's why I am not voting NDP.

My biggest fear of the NDP is the fear that they have allowed radical environmentalists to take over their agenda. And I don't want radicals of ANY stripe having a say in how we are governed.

That said, I do think the Liberals have been in power for far too long, because history shows us that Governments can become corrupt over time. And there are many examples which seem to point in this direction with regard to the BC Liberals.

So what's a person to do? It's a real dilemma.

The thing that makes this problem so difficult to resolve, is the blind partisanship by BOTH sides, which makes reform of either Party almost impossible. Because denying there's a problem never leads to a resolution to that problem.

If the followers of each Party spent as much time criticizing their own Party's shortcomings as they do the opposing Party's, maybe - just maybe, things would change.

Naturally I wouldn't expect them to do this during an election, but what about between elections?

Just because you can't tell the difference does not mean a major material difference does not exist.

IT is agreeing to pay for services in the future that are provided in the future, not paying later for services now.

The difference is tremendous.

When reading what some of the NDP'ers on here have been saying lately I've been reminded of the late US Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan's quote: You are entitled to your own opinions but not your own facts.

It's fair enough to say that not everyone is employed or that the economy isn't perfect but most economic indicators have BC as #1 in the country. Highest job growth, lowest unemployment, and strongest growth. And yet we're being told that the Liberals have driven our economy into the ground.

We're told that Christy Clark is accepting a stipend from the Liberal Party but that's not true. The stipend was was given to the leader from 1993 to the end of last year and Clark no longer receives a stipend. No mention of Moe Sihota's stipend from the unions of course.

In 1998 Carole James, then president of the BCSTA, came out against the backroom deal that the NDP government reached with the BCTF. She turned out to be right too. An NDP'er on here denies that she ever was opposed and when confronted with the quote he pretends not to see it on his computer screen.

We're told that the 1990's economy in BC was great. Better than our current economy. Except that that stats say otherwise and of course we know what happened to the NDP government in 2001. People didn't decimate the NDP because the economy was strong.

Many things that the Liberals are criticized for, e.g. taking money from ICBC, taking money from BC Hydro, the FSA tests, the BCPSEA, were NDP creations. No acknowledgment of that from the NDP'ers on here though.

Of course the word "criminal" is used to describe Christy Clark and her colleagues even though they've been charged with no crimes.

We're told that Glen Clark was cleared of all conflict of interest charges in 2001 except that he wasn't. He was found to have breached the conflict of interest laws. As a result of the same scandal we're told that Adrian Dix did nothing wrong, that he just did what a good employee does for his boss. And yet he resigned in disgrace and eventually admitted that what he did was wrong.

Both parties are sleazy and both parties leave a lot to be desired. When evaluating them though we should at least try to be as accurate as possible when posting "facts."

Yeah, she quit taking the stipend when it became public knowledge. Got caught with her fingers in the cookie jar. Had that not happened she would still be getting her 50 g's and probably an expense top up from the tax payers.
Never argue with an idiot, they will just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
