From Elections BC :

Election advertising sponsors must be independent
Registered election advertising sponsors must not sponsor election advertising
together with or on behalf of registered political parties or constituency
associations, candidates and their financial and official agents.
This means that election advertising sponsors must not do any of the following
with a candidate’s or political party’s campaign:

ƒ share strategies and information
ƒ share campaign material
ƒ provide or receive direction or suggestions
ƒ distribute each other’s materials
ƒ coordinate or cooperate

Everybody should really check out the latest from https://www.sayanythingjohn.ca/ . You remember those adds paid for by a couple of Christy Clark hacks claiming to be "the concerned citizens 4 BC"

Rumor has it the add campaign started to backfire when people realized that it was Christy Clark who would "say anything"

Thanks for the link. I knew Horgan was bad, but that ad shed a whole new light on it. Wow, the NDP must go.

It appears that Christy isn't proud enough of any BC lake to feature them in an ad. So she choose to film a commercial using an Alberta lake.

I am wondering if they got the permit required to shoot any commercial photography ( both still and motion ) in a Canadian National Park.

A dishonest ad from the NDP:
In a widely-distributed B.C. NDP election ad, party leader John Horgan strolls through what appears to be an exclusive neighbourhood, mansions just out of view.

"Christy Clark gave the richest two per cent a billion-dollar tax break," he tells the camera in the spot, currently running on television and social media.

"Meanwhile," he adds, "the rest of us are paying $1,000 more each year. Think about it: she's taking from you and giving to them."

But do those statements bear up to a CBC fact check?
'A false fact'

"Their first claim about the tax break of $1 billion for the rich — that is, people (earning) over $150,000 — really doesn't have a passing mark. It does funny things with the math," said J. Rhys Kesselman, who works with SFU's School of Public Policy.

The expert went on to say the claim was an "outright fail or 'false fact.'"

As true as that may be, has there been a political ad from any party that's been entirely truthful and honest and not full of hyperbole ? I don't think so..
Instead of committing our keyboards to excessive wear and tear on this topic, why not just talk about the political ad that isn't full of BS, if such an ad is ever produced.

IMHO some our political campaigns and ads have become as objectionable as those we have witnessed in the US in recent years. Statements like "under RCMP investigation" don't actually mean a thing, but are clearly intended to do nothing but plant the seed in unthinking minds, that the candidate has done something criminally wrong. Most of us know the difference between being accused of having done something and the accusation being substantiated and proven. This is especially true when one considers that the accuser has an obvious agenda when making the complaint. This kind of politics is slimy, and in my case, guarantees my vote won't be cast in favor of anyone engaging in this behavior.

NDP supporters seem a bit reluctant to put their money where their mouth is:
VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The New Democrats appear to be having some trouble reaching its fundraising targets, but leader John Horgan doesn’t seem too worried his party will lose any momentum as the campaign continues.

The party has sent an email to its supporters, pleading for more cash. It says it needs to raise at least $100,000 online by Friday at midnight “to keep up this campaign’s pace.” The email goes on to say, “We’re not hitting our fundraising targets. Not even close.”

Remember, the Christy liberals spent $15 million tax dollars on ads over the past year.

I have questions about those ads as well. However, NDP'ers on here have told us that to be "partisan" an ad has to specifically mention the name of the party to support or not to support. I thought that the BCTF ads were partisan in nature because they told people that we needed to elect a new government but nowhere did the ads mention the "Liberal" government. For that reason we were told that those ads were non-partisan. None of those government ads ask people to vote Liberal or not to vote NDP. Therefore, given the guidelines set down by NDP'ers on here the ads are all non-partisan.

If the ad shows Christy Clark's physiognomy it is clearly a Liberal partisan ad.
