Re: B.C. Political Ads
Unfortunately it is often the case that the Party with the most advertising dollars can effectively "buy" the election. Which is why it is so vitally important that limits be placed on the source and level of political donations in this Province.
BC is the only jurisdiction in North America without such limits, and that needs to change.

Re: B.C. Political Ads
I wasn't referring to the ads being partisan, or not. My concern is the colossal waste of tax money in general. I'm pretty sure the government, any government, should be able to pat itself on the back for probably less than half that amount....the government can brag about its accomplishments by holding a press conference, for free...Urbane wrote: I have questions about those ads as well. However, NDP'ers on here have told us that to be "partisan" an ad has to specifically mention the name of the party to support or not to support. I thought that the BCTF ads were partisan in nature because they told people that we needed to elect a new government but nowhere did the ads mention the "Liberal" government. For that reason we were told that those ads were non-partisan. None of those government ads ask people to vote Liberal or not to vote NDP. Therefore, given the guidelines set down by NDP'ers on here the ads are all non-partisan.

I agree Hurtlander; there needs to be some kind of independent oversight of Government paid for ads to prevent the kind of abuse of taxpayer dollars that we regularly witness.

The Auditor General has brought up this issue way back when John Doyle was quite vehement and the current Auditor General has also brought up the issue.Merry wrote:I agree Hurtlander; there needs to be some kind of independent oversight of Government paid for ads to prevent the kind of abuse of taxpayer dollars that we regularly witness.
The ChristyLiberals have arrogantly ignored their concerns.
How do you propose to 'fix' this?

If the Liberals win (which I suspect they will) then it's going to be up to the Liberal supporters to lean on the Government they elected to get them to change the rules.
Far too many folks (on BOTH sides of the political spectrum) blindly ignore their own Party's faults, to the detriment of the entire Province.
But if BOTH Liberal and NDP supporters join forces on this issue, change will eventually happen.

Well Merry, have a good look at the Liberal supporters on the Castanet forums and tell me how it might even be remotely possible for them to agree with ANYTHING other than the ChristyLiberal doctrine.Merry wrote:If the Liberals win (which I suspect they will) then it's going to be up to the Liberal supporters to lean on the Government they elected to get them to change the rules.

The absolute hilarity of this comment is amazing. Considering you give the NDP a free pass no matter what how many things they do the same as the liberals, and yet try to preach innocence. You are the standard NDP supporter and your comments haven't changed in 3 elections. How do you think it will work better this time.flamingfingers wrote:

yes yes I know your reply will just be that I am some Liberal shill no matter how many times I state I don't like the Liberals and would like a REAL alternative......just like most of the province desires, yet cannot find.

And isn't this just it? We would all like a viable alternative to the Liberal party, the NDP (GB is estactic I said this) and every other no-go political party trying to rise up in the quagmire of what this World really is, a hell of a complicated place.Veovis wrote:

Regardless of who "wins" an election, they always are up against a Silent Elite. Do you believe the extreme poor who voted for Trump ever thought their non-profit support would be slashed right out from under them?

Re: B.C. Political Ads
It is quite evident here on the Castanet forums that the folks who say they are voting Liberal can at least admit there are faults with that party.flamingfingers wrote: Well Merry, have a good look at the Liberal supporters on the Castanet forums and tell me how it might even be remotely possible for them to agree with ANYTHING other than the ChristyLiberal doctrine.
Die-hard NDP supporters, such as yourself and a handful of others seem not able to admit that there are faults with that party as well.
There is a difference between voting Liberal and being a Liberal supporter. The painful truth is that this province has only 1 option to vote for and it isn't the NDP as they seem dead set on not ever becoming the governing party.

Re: B.C. Political Ads
Anyone remember the #IamLinda incident? I was looking at the footage and discovered something interesting, rather than post the footage, I found the following picture that I would like to share with you, and please look carefully at the Asian woman (an obvious BC Liberal PR staff member) who is standing right beside Christy Clark.

Now watch the following nine month old BC Liberal commercial carefully, turn off the volume and ignore Christy, but concentrate on the woman sitting at the table, to Christy's right...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iMpRjrYpP0
Anyone recognize her? Perhaps the BC Liberals couldn't find any regular people willing to sit at the same table with Christy Clark and listen to her diatribe, so they used BC Liberal staff members instead? Your thoughts?

Re: B.C. Political Ads
LMAO it is? The TV commercial makes it look like Christy is talking to some ordinary folks over coffee... somehow that TV commercial just doesn't seem "real" anymore! Hilarious, that the BC Liberals would need insiders to to nod and smile to Christy on cue in that commercial.flamingfingers wrote:^^That's Naomi Yamamoto, North Vancouver - Lonsdale Liberal candidate/MLA.

Re: B.C. Political Ads
I personally don't care who the commenters on this thread vote for as long as it's not Christy or one of her clowns. If it weren't so pathetic, it would be hilarious to hear them drone on and on about having no one else to vote for except the corrupt BC Liberals, and then trudging down to the polling station to vote yet again for corruption.

Are you sure that's the same woman? If not you are looking horribly racist right now. But what else is new, as the NDP is one of the most racist parties in Canada, as we saw in the federal election when the NDP was caught paying South-Asian employees less than other employees.Anyone recognize her?
