"Mr. Travis said he compared how much the ruling BC Liberals spent in two recent non-election years with the Progressive Conservatives in Alberta, a province with a similar number of voters. Alberta had a cap on corporate donations prior to corporate and union donations being banned in 2015, he said. In 2012, the Liberals spent $8.7-million compared with the Progressive Conservatives’ $2.5-million, he said. In 2014, they spent $7.2-million compared with $3.5-million by their counterparts in Alberta, Mr. Travis added."

No doubt about it, when it comes to donated money that is some serious coin, if our BC Liberal's can out collect, and out spend, Alberta Conservatives by that much, BC Liberals must have money coming out of their waazoos. Probe RCMP, probe!

and yet wherever the NDP run for office, we know if they win, that we won't have any democracy as the un-elected unions will be the ones running the government.

"A “$100,000 club” of monied donors is giving millions to the B.C. Liberal Party and getting billions in government payouts, contracts and projects, according to a new book by the executive director of a government watchdog group."

"Just 177 donors paid $55 million – about half of all the money received by the Liberals over the last 12 years – and subsequently received some $15 billion, as well as permits, legal changes, regulation changes and approvals..."

Unlike some on here who post plenty of personal opinions, I present facts, and most of the time back them up with sourced links. Like this one:

"Lobbyists and other power brokers are routinely buying their way into British Columbia’s political inner circles by donating generously to the party in power several times a year, a practice industry insiders consider the cost of doing business in a province with an entrenched pay-to-play culture."

"A Globe and Mail review of public records found dozens of people who get paid to promote special interests also give tens of thousands of dollars every year – under their own names, not those of the interests they represent – to help B.C.’s governing politicians pay for their campaigns."

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/inv ... e34207677/

Donating money under their own names, not those of the interests they represent, is "ILLEGAL" ... too bad this RCMP investigation into the BC Liberal donation scandal won't be completed until after the election. :-X

Would you cite the law please? Reading the article didn't really make that point clear:
The rules in B.C. making it illegal to donate on behalf of others make it very clear the money must come from the contributor’s own pocket.
“The Elections Act is very specific that it must be your money. You can’t make a political contribution and then be reimbursed by an organization or individual,” said Elections B.C. deputy chief electoral officer Nola Western.
Truths can be backed up by facts - do you have any?
Fancy this, Fancy that and by the way, T*t for Tat

It would appear as if Christy bought Castanet too. Given the amount of photo ops and conjecture she is afforded, makes one curious as to why? Media sells. No doubt about it.

Looks like if this is your make-or-break issue, you don't have a lot of choice in which party to vote for. From the link:

Both Premier Clark and NDP leader John Horgan have flatly refused to stop holding the private fundraisers from which much of that money flows. Critics are scratching their heads over why B.C. continues to hold out while Ottawa, Ontario and Alberta recently bowed to pressure and capped or reduced donation limits.
...
Lobbyists and consultants The Globe interviewed all agreed both main political parties in B.C. are equally guilty of squeezing money from players who want something from government. Several said the New Democrats hit them up hard right before the 2013 election, when the polls were predicting they would win.

“I’d get two or three calls a week from the NDP,” one lobbyist said. “There was an expectation – ‘Hey we are going to be in power – it would probably be advantageous to give us some money so we can be friends.’”

Liberals have lied, cheated and stolen.

To some of their voters that does not matter at all.

Give your head a shake!

Here is the real joke; BC Liberals give back $93,000 in donations, citing "clerical errors". Then that amount jumps to $174,000, now it is closing in on $250,000 (a quarter of a million)... gee that's a lot of clerical errors, who are the BC Liberals hiring for clerks these days; monkeys?

What's this? Another "clerical error" folks, it seems that dead people are now donating to the BC Liberal Party. Apparently a dead KPMG Executive is listed as making a $150,000 donation to the BC Liberals, he died on July 17, 2004 at age 49. A full six (6) years later, his name appears in the BC Liberal Party's 2010 disclosure to Elections BC. The Liberals claimed this dead man donated to the BC Liberal Party on three (3) separate occasions in 2010.
