Re: Who's going to win today?
Well I'm glad you asked that, and then proceeded to make up the rest of that garbage. Let's take California for example. Where did you get your numbers on electricity rates there? Latest information from the US Energy Information Administration is that their overall end-use electrical cost across all sectors is $0.154/kWh.hobbyguy wrote:I also post a challenge that absolutely NO opponent of site C has been able to meet:
Please post a link to a windy-solar-tidal grid jurisdiction that provides abundant, reliable, affordable electricity without subsidies.
Can you meet that challenge?
Proof in the real world: California (where the windy-solar-tidal ethos emanates from) is at $.27/kWh already - and that's with huge subsidies going to producers and the state and cities further subsidizing the windy-solar regime with storage capacity to stabilize the grid. Real electricity costs in California are likely much closer to $.35/kWh.

Why the discrepancy to your stated costs? If you don't think that is affordable then you haven't lived in Ontario.
Now let's forget that you only picked out solar and wind from the energy scenario I described. What about biofuel cogeneration, geothermal power generation, and next generation nuclear? Are you going to comment on those?

Re: Who's going to win today?
Talk about missing the point. Who cares what the business is. The fact is that if the guy making $12 an hour suddenly jumps to $15, the guy making $15 currently is going to want to go to $18. It's called "trickle up", in that the stupid decisions of brainless leftists causes the cost of labour to trickle up the chain, and bankrupt the employer in the process.George+ wrote:No.

Prove that increased minimum wage causes trickle up.
Where?
I am not a member of any party or of the BCTF , for that matter.
And where is that certain business owner to prove he really does have a business?

Prove that it causes people up the chain to want more money? Are you being serious right now? Is this like your whole deliberate obtuseness regarding bird kills by wind turbines?George+ wrote:Prove that increased minimum wage causes trickle up.

Re: Who's going to win today?
OMG! Someone has to prove this to you? Too funny. So in your version of a fair world, people earning minimum wage should get a big boost, but people who have earned their way up from minimum wage will be happy where they're at, which is ok because costs will not go up as a result of the substantial hike to minimum wage.George+ wrote:Prove that increased minimum wage causes trickle up.

Re: Who's going to win today?
as I've said before, the only silver lining here is that those who have forgotten or never had the exposure in the 1990's to how truly delusional and out of touch the NDP are with reality will get a giant dose of it now. Yes, birds don't get killed by wind turbines apparently. People who make $12 an hour now will get $15, and those making $15 now will just sit quietly and not ask for anything more. Sure. Daycare will be free. And unionized of course. And cost billions. But don't worry about that.rustled wrote:

Government sets minimum wage.
Rest is negotiated, or imposed by some uncaring businesses.
Prove there is a jurisdiction where minimum wage increase
resulted in other dramatic wage increases.
Name one.
Come on..you can't do it..can you?
Idle top of your hat speculation just does not work.

Re: Who's going to win today?
George+, the minimum wage here gets raised annually, in predicted increments. Please don't pretend that's the same thing as a substantial hike. Please don't pretend people currently earning almost $15 won't want more than $15 when the new guy's starting at $15.George+ wrote:Government sets minimum wage.

Spoken like someone who spent their entire professional career in a government position with zero understanding of how businesses operate. You never had to worry about where your next paycheque was coming from. "Uncaring businesses". How dare you. Just slurping up that BCTF Kool-Aid.George+ wrote:Government sets minimum wage.

I find it amusing the insights offered by those who think they know how everything should be run, yet lack one rather important part of the equation. What part would that be you might ask, well it's simply that the ones who are most opinionated have never owned or run a business. Who wins? Looks like it's anyone earning minimum wage.
But wait. Nope, not even them, since their spending power's going to take a nosedive too.

$0.154/kWh in USD is 0.21 CAD. March 2017 california residential from your link was $0.1887/kWh, which is $0.25CAD.Scott17 wrote:Latest information from the US Energy Information Administration is that their overall end-use electrical cost across all sectors is $0.154/kWh.
