Oh the shack is stayin' put, just tacked the table cloth to the doorway...I'm just using the door for floatin' purposes...
there's a Sears n Roebuck catalogue nailed to it that comes in handy at times.

It's pretty foggy up here this morning...and VERY soggy too!

Re: Sandbagging thread.
https://www.castanet.net/news/Vernon/19 ... to-sandbagThe City of Vernon has not and will not be sandbagging public beach access sites at the north end of Okanagan Lake.
On the weekend, the city was criticized for not sandbagging public areas while nearby beachfront residents struggled to protect their property from flooding.
Mayor Akbal Mund said there is no infrastructure to protect along the beaches and the operation would be too costly for the city.
“We don't have any infrastructure to protect,” explained Mund, who surveyed the lakefront on Monday. “There's no infrastructure that's going to be damaged so there's no cost to the taxpayer. It would be a tremendous cost if we started bagging every lake access point we had within our community. As long as it's not affecting infrastructure we don't need to protect it.”

It had occurred to me to take that road on the way home but thought it'd be closed.

So we know that the new Lake level is something like 343.2 meters. Does anyone know what the normal average Lake level is? Is it like 342m?

How many socks do you own?
How does one turn a whole evening into "sock folding night"?
Ha ha.

Re: Sandbagging thread.
Some old lady asked me if I'd be willing to go fill up roughly 200 sand bags for her, bring it to her house, and put them up for awesome $100.
Like seriously? That's like an entire weekend worth of work for $100 minus my gas, vehicle use, etc. Less than minimum wage.
Just because you're in a flood zone doesn't mean you get to be a cheap *bleep* and everybody is supposed to help you free of charge.

Re: Sandbagging thread.
If that lady was doing it herself, struggling, asked me for help, I'd do it for free

Even, that old lady remembers when people her age would work for 0.25 cents an hour, all day.
Be kind, she's not that at all, just doesn't realize how the values of things have changed.
Also, she may have dementia or on-set and is going back in time.
No need to be unkind.
Maybe she has no idea what work sandbagging actually is?

Re: Sandbagging thread.
If she asked nicely, I'd help her. But instead she tried to offer sub-standard pay while her house is worth many times over what is mine worth. She might have as well called me a Black and told me to go to work for a bowl of rice.

Re: Sandbagging thread.
What kinda house do you have because mine is extremely modest and still would be listed at 600K. Hers would be what, three million bucks? I hear you on the insulting pay scale, I just have to wonder if she's "all there" and her house valuation having nothing to do with her efforts, but rather a market gone nutso.
