The biggest "flaw" in the bible - (money)

Post by Thinktank »

In the early 1990s I spent three years, once or twice a week listening to one man explain
everything there is to know about the bible. He said the bible was God, because in the bible it says
"in the beginning the word was with God and the word (bible) was God."

I found there's a few good people in every church, so the next logical question everyone would ask is:
"How can I be better than those good people, and how can I be perfect? And that's where the biggest flaw in the bible comes in: Jesus told one rich guy he should sell everything he owns and give it to the poor, to be perfect.

Almost half the world — over three billion people — live on less than $2.50 a day. They are known as the "have nothing" people.

Another 2.5 billion people live on less than $10 a day. These are the have not people.

And in the "have" countries, (that's us) the top 20% own 85% of the country's wealth and the bottom 80% of the population own 15%. In the rich countries we work like crazy to pay a $thousand a month interest to the rich bankers, so we can have neat stuff like houses and cars, while we eat food with twenty four chemicals in it, to save a buck or two.

So most of the seven billion people on earth don't have a lot of stuff, and selling all they own to give to the poor would be absurd. And the really rich people - the top 1% - the Bill Gateses of the world - would never ask the question "what should I do to be perfect" .......

so that's the biggest flaw in the bible.

I Dunno, the biggest flaw IMO is some idea of a god that wrote the bible. Was he that daft to think that all animals will not kill and steal to survive? You know, in the world he created
Would so rather be over educated that a knuckle dragging Neanderthal bereft of critical thought and imagination. Although in the case of Neanderthals, that's quite the insult.

But to answer somewhat the question at hand- humility is the key to lessening suffering by all.
