Look forward to seeing those tubers being towed by a canoe. Sorry could not resist
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests.
It appears US voters hated Woke more than they hated Trump.

Seen those flags out there before - also have seen a raft floating around looking for a place to land. Hardly a boat in sight today.
Truths can be backed up by facts - do you have any?

It was glorious, spent the day kayaking and the lake was like glass. Only saw two boats in 6 hours.Fancy wrote:Seen those flags out there before - also have seen a raft floating around looking for a place to land. Hardly a boat in sight today.

Of those two boats, one was a jetski, the other a cabin cruiser that took it slow except when he went by Seclusion Bay where they opened it up. Even though this is on the opposite side of one of the widest parts on the lake, it's wake was very noticeable. So much for wakes magically disappearing at 50 meters as some posters seemed to imply.

Yes, waves from a boat on a lake of this size do travel a considerable distance - and much like when a deep water tsunami forms, get substantially larger when the get to shallower water close to shore. One only need spend a few minutes with even mild wave action to see the damage it can inflict on unprotected foreshore right now. Glad to see the large majority of boaters doing their part by heeding the requests to stay off the lake. Enjoy the calm water! I might have to look into renting a kayak and getting out and enjoying that calm water in person. :)Poindexter wrote:Of those two boats, one was a jetski, the other a cabin cruiser that took it slow except when he went by Seclusion Bay where they opened it up. I understand boat launches are mostly closed, so is it entirely voluntary that they are staying off the lake?
Regardless of who "wins" an election, they always are up against a Silent Elite. Do you believe the extreme poor who voted for Trump ever thought their non-profit support would be slashed right out from under them?

I'd like to think so. The Eldorado launch is still operating. There's literally hundreds of boats on the water in the various marinas around the valley as well as many moored privately. I would like to think that most have got the message.Queen K wrote:I understand boat launches are mostly closed, so is it entirely voluntary that they are staying off the lake?

Re: A plea to boaters...
Yes, I would say it is mainly voluntary. I have a slip at a local marina. I pay $2,500 a year to have my boat there so I can easily access the water, mainly so I can boat primarily between May and August. Based on those five months, you could say I pay about $500 a month to be able to boat on the lake. I have yet to take the boat out simply because I don't want to add further harm to an already perilous situation for homes, businesses and other land along the waterfront. I'd LOVE to be boating right now, but won't do it until we get the all clear. It's a small price to pay considering the headaches people in the flood zone are contending with on a daily basis.
