The boat launch at Soorimpt Provincial Day Use Park is still open. Saw two boats launching today.

Wind is up. Good sailing
I have learned that to be with those I like is enough.

It's a little eerie to see boats in the back of places instead of tied up to docks never mind travelling down the lake and not seeing one boat - not even one fishing.Queen K wrote:EZGuy, did you see the one at Lake Country on Okanagan Lake?
We photographed the damages and they are extensive. Closed obviously. And the quiet down there was something a local had said she hasn't experienced at this time of year, ever.
It's like November down there.
Truths can be backed up by facts - do you have any?

There is a Lake Erie (also up in water levels).
I'm more familiar with Lake Ontario but BC is not alone in flooding issues.
http://www.metronews.ca/news/world/2017 ... -high.htmlResidents with lakefront properties say they've lost patios and staircases due to the rising water and subsequent flooding.

Re: A plea to boaters...
I've got one sibling on Lake Ontario, one on Lake Erie and my folks are on Huron.
They're all sitting high and dry, but all seeing their neighbors going through the same as here.
My sibling on Lake Ontario stated the same idiots that speed around creating wakes/headaches here, must have cousins in Ontario.
Same genetic disposition.
I still think paint balls filled with cesspool water would be a good deterrent.
POP!
Splat!
ACK!!!

Sure is quiet...Queen K wrote: And the quiet down there was something a local had said she hasn't experienced at this time of year, ever.

Usually I would awaken to the first murmers of a 9.9 and water lapping off a tinny this time of year.
And
Be drifting off to sleep to the rumble of a big block with over tones of gangsta rap as the mid night
boat surfers get in a few more runs.
During the in between times it just becomes a cacophony of white noise.
AHHHH, sure peaceful.
Wanna buy a boat ?

Shame.
As much as I appreciate the skills required to drag a shoulder slalom skiing,
now is not the time.
I was rolling past Duck Lk. this eve and some flakes were out slalom skiing along the flooded shores.
right in front of all the homes and such that were painstakingly sandbagged for water control.
No ing scruples whatsoever !

Can't believe it's the first day of summer and my boat is still winterized. Have done a once over on the trailer replacing older parts and lights even though they were fine. Have done a once over on the boat replacing older parts even though the were fine. It's sad, basically I'm just coming up with creative ways to spend time with my boat because I miss her. When will this nightmare end?!

Looking forward to the August long weekend. Too close to July to really count on the water level dropping 2 feet for the July long weekend.

I too am missing going out in the boat, but can't see any way it's going to happen any time soon.
It's going to be a long hot summer with no sailing. Maybe we'll tow the boat out of the valley and see if we can find a nice lake to put it on.

Re: A plea to boaters...
I am asking honestly so please don't rip me apart
I have a high speed electric RC boat that does about 60mph. It is only a metre long and weighs a few pounds. Yes it makes a wake, but more like a 1-2 cm chop maximum
think its ok to run?
Most of the floating crap is gone now off Poplar point which is where I usually take it.

Re: A plea to boaters...
I highly doubt the displacement from even a 3' RC boat would be any issue at all. Of course, this is Kelowna - and if these forums prove anything, it's that some people can find something to *bleep* about in just about anything. Have fun - I'm a tad jealous! - and get out before the wind picks up, which it's supposed to this afternoon.

Wind is up right now, I'm looking at trees waving around in the wind.
Gman, you know WalterWhite is right, anyone will complain about anything.
Go boating, be careful.

Re: A plea to boaters...
thanks all! I figured it would be good but contrary to some of my posts in reality I do try to be a good neighbor and understand those on the waterfront are not having a ton of fun right now
i'll take it out on the weekend, it a catamaran so likes the calm - its kind of nice not having big boats right now :)
anyway
