100 Mile House

Post by Frisk »

You can see the smoke on drive bc's webcam. Looks like it's quite large.

Up to 225 hectares now. Growing astoundingly fast.
Why use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice.

At the end of day it is still out of control and has grown to an estimated 750-800 hectares.

Wind is the culprit.( with suitable fuel)
Anachist fire in 2003 was 1200 Ha and the OK MT park fire ended up being around 26,000 ha. It started from a lightening strike but the wind in the afternoon drove it up the hill and before dinner was out of control.

If the wind subsides somewhat, they might be able to control the flanks to some extent. Likely need a rain event to slow it down. Flat ground up there helps.

https://www.castanet.net/edition/news-story-201278-3-.htm#201278

Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Donna Barnett tells Castanet the most recent expansion of evacuation orders now affects between 3,000 and 3,500 homes.

Castanet's reporter on the ground in 100 Mile House says the feeling is ominous as huge pillars of smoke tower over the community.

I have relatives in the area as well. They are not in any danger at this point but you never know!
My Wife asked me if I knew what her favorite flower was?
Apparently "Robin Hood All Purpose" was the wrong answer!
