Combination of very dry conditions & possible large amount of bug kill forest equals prefect condition for major fire (which this is now).
I just hope there is no loss of human life, knowing I'm very uncomfortable about fire I'd be packed & gone long before being told to (call me when it all over).

my buddy is RCMP in 100 mile and its pretty bad the fire is going quick. they were just shy of 40 degrees yesterday

And at ~40 degrees, you can be sure that the relative humidity is well below 30. It's dry out there and that fire isn't done growing. :( Hopefully the winds can screw off for a few weeks.

It was most definitely not 40C in 100 Mile. 100 Mile sits at over 1000m (3280 ft) above sea level, and it has never been 40C at that elevation anywhere in BC. The hottest temperature there this year has been 33.5C.

The humidity was extreme yesterday at 9%. I've never seen the Okanagan that dry, though I don't look that often.

Humidity it up today and it's currently raining/thunderstorming in the area.

And now Ashcroft is burning...Highway is closed between Ashcroft and Cache Creek for anyone heading that way. Aircraft are flying hard here...it's like a war zone!!
108 and 105 Mile are being evacuated.
