The forestry station at Lone Butte showed 1% last week, though I don't think the forestry stations are as accurate as the Environment Canada stations. Plus, automated stations are extremely inaccurate below 10%. https://questioningthedata.wordpress.co ... he-charts/

And Environment Canada is showing 24% humidity in Kelowna. One of these days, the weatherman will get it right.

What are they getting wrong? It's now closer to 50%, but that's perfectly normal for this time of night. By morning will be 70 -80% which is also normal. Tomorrow afternoon it will be 15% or so.

Re: Fire danger
Yesterday and day before. When the new one comes out at 2pm today I expect even more red. Maybe by the end of this extended dry spell the whole southern half will be completely red. Yikes.

Re: Fire danger
I think the red will start shrinking back within 2 days. Tomorrow is forecast to be 5 degrees cooler than today in many parts of the red, and by the end of the week rain.
BTW, the red dot in the northwest is Telegraph Creek. It's much warmer than drier than anywhere else in the northwest. Great microclimate for growing things that don't grow anywhere else within 500 km.

I don't think it will shrink back. I think it will be bigger tomorrow and by the time we do get some moisture it will be all red. Heat keeps the red growing but only moisture will get rid of it. We are sitting on a can of gasoline with the careless ready to light it up.

There is a ton of lightning right now in central bc. I couldn't figure out how to screen shot from environment Canada but there are plenty of storms. I would expect lots of fires in the caribou
