I got a lot of berries off those bushes :)Queen K wrote:Did you get many Tay berries?
And my Goji is growing. And the blue berries are being kept alive and oh, more cukes will get picked tomorrow.
I dug a few more potatoes out.
My current has yet to produce though, and my goji is also berryless :/

Goji takes a few years to get established. And all three bushes were severely treated during the last Winter, left out and I thought that they died in fact. But I suspect next year we may get berries yet.

You'll need to thin them each year or that'll happen.Queen K wrote:
And oh, we had a lousy apricot year. Last year? Bumper crop. This year? Nada.
You get bigger cots that way too.
I had a massive blueberry crop. Awesome.

Spaghetti squash is amazing this year. Plus, I have other squash that came up as volunteers. they've cross pollinated though, because I don't recognize them! One looks like a cross with a spaghetti squash and pumpkin, one looks like a cross of spaghetti squash and watermelon . . . odd things.

We're getting flowers and no set fruit on our squash.
I harvest tomatoes today, and bought corn on Byrns Road, the corn is amazing. We're harvesting cukes and I dug the final garlic out today.

Could be male flowers. Only the female will set.
If you see females pollinate them by hand from a male.

Most of the flowers in the squash family look fairly similar - at least to my eyes!

Peaches all got picked yesterday. I got home to see birds having a feast so had to rush. Some lost, but oh well. Still not sure what I did with that bird net... I may need more for next year - anyone got a good source that doesn't break the bank?

I'm sorry Slootman, I haven't a clue as we've never tried. Try castanet classifieds?
Is anyone else having trouble gardening in the smoke? I am starting to be affected and can't wait for the rain to clear the air.

Re: Gardening 2017: Fruits, Veggies, Flowers
Well I did it. Two years ago we built a cage area 5 feet by 12 feet. Peas didn't do so well on it, so I planted it all in clematis to cover. Its amost there and lovely in bloom. Can someone recommend more clematis varieties that bloom long. Anyhow, along the posts, I hammered in iron hangers and hung large baskets on strawberries.two_shoes1mit wrote:I'm going to take my strawberries out of the raised bed and plant them into hanging baskets.
I saw this on google and it looked good. Has anyone else done this?
I couldn't have been more pleased, we have had non-stop strawberries all summer. Only thing is..............I have to soak/water them every day with this heat and I feed them about once a week. Sure beats having them in a garden bed.
My hens n chicks are multiplying unbelievable. Does anyone want some?
