Trepanier fire

Post by OldBlindDog »

According to another news source, there is a small fire near the Trepanier exit onto Hwy 97C, on the north side of the highway and to the west of the exit. From the photo included in the story, it's a few meters off the highway.

3 Convairs and 2 heli's from Penticton went out to it, plus the birdog.
Convair's back now. 5:20pm.
Why use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice.

What news source did you see this on?
Have family who says it is very close to them and have not seen
anything about the fire on any source, they can just see the smoke
and know its very close to them.
Any updates at all please post.
They have horses and are not sure what to do if they have to get out quick.

Castanet isn't too keen on mentions from other local sources, and I am not sure if this will be removed, but it was on the Kelowna Capital News site.

No updates anywhere yet.
Family said retardant was dropped then water was dropped and
right now they are hearing chain saws. I guess they are cutting trees down around the
fire or something like that.
Hopefully it will be out soon.
Although the news says wind is not a factor my family is saying it is very windy out there.

It didn't seem to start right beside the highway, if looking at early photos of the fire. It's quite possible it might have started on the side of Trepanier Road, though.

It's nowhere near the highway.
