UPDATE: 8:30 a.m.
Seven BC Wildfire crew members and two pieces of heavy equipment remained at the site of the Finlay Creek wildfire overnight, according to Jody Lucius, fire information officer.
Lucius was unable to provide an update on current conditions until after an operational meeting at 9 a.m.
She said a decision would be made on whether air support was needed Sunday to fight the blaze southwest of Peachland.

Saw 2 helis leave for the fire, one had the bucket on a line. The Tanker base has their birddog getting ready to go. Just about to leave.
Why use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice.

Hope they get a good handle on the visibility. From here ( Naramata) the visibility looks like 0
Virtually no wind so the smoke is hanging around but the positive is the calmer air reduces the growth.
Had to let the dog out several times over night and the red glow with the smoke was something to see. Calmed down at the 3:30 am mark. Was still very active at 11:30 and 1:00 am when I was out with the dog .

Several witnesses describe hearing and feeling a explosion yesterday. Anyone familiar with the area know what is up that way? Is it a residential area or just forest?
I have learned that to be with those I like is enough.

might have been a fuel dump? I was wondering the same thing, seems odd that there would be a large explosion in that area.

I felt the shockwave so strongly that I went out to see what had hit the outside wall of the modular home. Niece from Summerland emailed that friends down that way told her a cabin at the end of Garnet Valley went up and propane tank exploded.
I'm in upper Princeton Ave on alert and watching spotter plane and helicopters that seem to be circling the western (upper end away from lake). Don't know if they are dropping toward the roadway or??????
