Number of Structures Destroyed

Post by Glacier »

Wow, I had idea that Soda Creek was the hardest hit area.

This is just for the Cariboo Regional District, so it doesn't include most of Elephant Hill. And any part of Elephant Hill in the Cariboo is still too active to assess.

No mention of the homes lost in the Okanagan Centre fire.
I think there were 8 and 1 out building.

That Chart is only for the Caribou regional district. Hence Glaciers comments about it not including Elephant hill.

Missed that part. It would be good to have a chart for all of this season's BC fires.

The broad strokes:

Chris Duffy with Emergency Management BC said the flames have also burned 431 structures, including 220 homes. While some of the structures were destroyed, others have been damaged, he said.

Why do they keep saying "no end in sight." 20 mm forecast for the Cariboo. That's a lot of rain if you ask me for this time of year. There won't be much if any fire growth after today in any of the major fires.

When Hanceville loses 15 homes, that's like Kelowna losing 30,000 homes (when you scale for population). Also, losing the only restaurant in town is a significant loss.

Check this out: estimates are that 53,000,000 cubic meters of wood has burned in bc this year. That's enough to build 750,000 new 2,400 square foot homes. Incredible!
I have learned that to be with those I like is enough.

Add in another 215 structures (mostly from Elephant Hill)... https://www.castanet.net/edition/news-s ... htm#206414

That's over 400 structures this year. Another 9 in Lake Country, brings to the preliminary total to 426.
