If this dude gets money out of this were all doomed, guy is a snowflake with a potential drinking problem, a man child who doesn't know right from wrong if you feel sorry for him I feel sorry for you, he's a pos that thought it would be a good idea to drive after a few drinks, those rallying behind him wouldn't be saying the same thing if he drove into one of your family members, people like this really *bleep* me off.

I hope he doesn't receive a dime. An irresponsible decision with a work vehicle and he thinks it's unjust?? It absolutely DOES reflect poorly on his employer and they did the right thing by firing him.

He's arguing that it was his personal time and there were other disciplinary actions that could have been used instead of an immediate dismissal which resulted in not obtaining work in the same field.

He was driving the Chief's truck. He got what he deserved.

Being an Assistant Chief, he would not be in the Union; they would have no say in the outcome. Strictly a Management decision.

He was an Assistant Chief and in that position, if a major incident occurs he is expected to attend. I sure as hell wouldn't want him driving an Emergency vehicle at HIGH speeds through intersections and roads at 1:30 in the morning or any other time....

Seems to me there were grounds for firing him. Therefore, no severance or other compensation is warranted. Why does he think he should have got 18 months notice before he was terminated? Sounds like a big baby.

I require a license for my work. If I get a suspension for any reason, I will be terminated and replaced. No one is guaranteed a job in Canada. Any non-unionized worker has little recourse if let go for any reason. The only thing to determine is a severance and there are limits on that. Given the length of his employ, the reasons for dismissal, he won’t get what he is asking for. And, there is precedence that if you are offered more than a court would rule, and you still show up and pick a fight for more, a judge will rescind your original amount and side with the employer, making you pay back. He is a public figure and must be held to higher standards. As a fire fighter, I wonder how many times he’s responded to a MVI and found carnage because of impaired driving?

I'm not sure what post of mine you are responding to - keep in mind the fact that I've stated the vehicle should not have been used for personal purposes.

It would be interesting to know what reason the cop had to stop a clearly marked Fire Department vehicle. I doubt that it was a routine stop.

2:00 am on the bridge...mostly likely a check stop for all vehicles. No one is or should be immune.

I'm sure he found parking near the Casino much cheaper and easier using the chiefs readily identifiable as WKFD truck as opposed to his Kia.

Grow up and watch your language. You obviously don't understand the law and the reason behind the lawsuit. If others in his position are treated differently for the same offences, then that opens the door for a lawsuit.

I'm absolutely GOBSMACKED that anyone can have any empathy or an iota of support for this turnip .

He was impaired while operating a municipally owed truck provided to the head of their EMERGENCY SERVICES for first responders and fire protection . That vehicle was impounded and removed from active service for 30 days (?) thus impeding their ability to do their job...

If that isn't grounds for immediate dismissal , I don't know what is. For anyone , never mind an assistant chief.
