Funny, the only comment Fancy WON'T answer.normaM wrote:Do you know him Fancy?
He wasn't union, had no specific ''contract' other than offer of employment. He was a middle manager with less than 5 years.
This was dismissal with cause.
And behind every rat you see there are a hundred more. How many times was he not caught?
14 pages of negative comments on a forum provide pretty good evidence that the majority do NOT support this judges decision. Regardless of this 'token' award, the court of public opinion holds more weight and has a longer memory, the damage to the departments reputation in the community is done.

First off - that's a personal question that has nothing to do with the topic.judgejudy wrote:Funny, the only comment Fancy WON'T answer.
Secondly - I DID answer it - you might actually consider reading the posts instead of jumping to conclusions.
Truths can be backed up by facts - do you have any?
Fancy this, Fancy that and by the way, T*t for Tat

Courts are where people should still be tried and not here or facebook. I support the judge's decision because he/she made the decision based on evidence and not people's emotions.judgejudy wrote: Funny, the only comment Fancy WON'T answer.

People have short memories. No one will talk about this in a couple of months.

Really, this whole court case is over whether he was entitled to any compensation when West Kelowna terminated his employment. Any employer can terminate any employee whenever they want, just depends if they want to pay severance pay or not. The district felt they didn’t need to, he felt they should pay him 18 months salary, the court decide it should be 5 months.
His poor judgement that night cost him his career, doubt he’ll ever work in a municipal fire department again.

I'm not taking sides but thank you. What the man did was totally inexcusable - absolutely, and the employer was totally within their right to fire him for that due to a serious infraction of what I certainly hope is in his employment agreement - fire for just cause; alternatively just fire him and pay severance because you can. Also, considering the possibility that others have been fired from that employer with severance, or if his employment contract included a right to severance, then the employer is obligated to pay.goatboy wrote:Really, this whole court case is over whether he was entitled to any compensation when West Kelowna terminated his employment. It's not as black and white as that but that's why you need a judge. Several colleagues testified that he is a good man who made a mistake.
