There is a road that leads to Princeton in peachland...not sure how to get there though.

We were just at the over watch ridge near the Peachland zip line and this fire is growing rapidly. Was quite windy, water skimmers (5 of them) were hitting it continuously but unfortunately it wasn’t doing much to suppress it. Need to get bigger bombers in to get a handle on this, the skimmers are great to see but it’s literally drops in a bucket on this fire.

There is a road... it’s accessed from Peachland up Princeton Ave, doesn’t take you anywhere near the fires and pops you out into Summerland. It’s all forest service, gravel roads and can be done in a car though.

Directions:

Take Princeton Ave exit from Highway 97 in Peachland
Drive up Princeton 9kms, take left fork named “Peachland FSR”
Take that to the 15km mark turn left on “Glen Lake FSR” (its more of a Y)
Take that for 15km then it comes to Summerland/Princeton FSR, turn left there
Turn left and it takes you into Summerland.

From Princeton and Highway 97, it’s about 50km on a diet road, will probably take you 90 minutes. Not quick but will get you to Summerland where you can get to Penticton from the Peachland/Kelowna area.

I took the logging road route yesterday and it is not near the Munro fire. I was uncertain of the condition of Glen lake rd, so took Trout creek rd instead. It was in great condition.

You are thinking of the logging/FSR called the 201, or the Okanagan Falls FSR. It started in Penticton. You go up Carmi Road and it comes out on Hwy 33.

Last week hiked commando bay, here's a photo looking across the lake at Peachland fire region.

Remember admiring all of the untouched forests on the Westside, in contrast to the 2003 burnt region I was standing on. Never thought that it'd burn this soon.

Heard forestry person saying fire has pushed south to the edge of Wild Horse Ranch, winds at times gusting 30 to 40.

Mayor Cindy Fortin

IMPORTANT UPDATE!

I will now be signing a Local State of Emergency as the winds have seriously caused the fires to flare up.

For safety, properties on Thorne Rd., Hardy St., and the Antlers Beach mobile home park, that were on an Evacuation Alert, may have to evacuate. I will let you know as soon as the Fire Chief makes the call. Crews will also be going to homes to notify residents, if that is the case.

In addition, all properties to the south of Princeton Avenue are now going to be placed on Evacuation Alert. Remember to pack your prescriptions, important papers, and other necessary items, first.

Please remain calm. This is not a time for Peachlanders to panic, but to pull together, as I'm proud to see so many of you have already done. Please know that we have the best trained fire crews in Peachland and the Province, and your safety is absolutely their top priority.

I will give you more information as soon as I receive it.

Updated 1 hour ago:

UPDATE: The Fire Chief feels comfortable that they will not need to evacuate the Antler's Beach Mobile Home Park or Thorne Road, or any residents on alert in that area tonight, as the fire has calmed down. They will have a crew monitoring embers and reassessing in the morning.

If anything changes during the night residents in that area will be notified.

This thread is for updates on the fire activity, not discussing the Mars Bombers.
