The Kleena Kleene fires are burning up into the alpine, even up to 7,000 ft.

Last night above the smoke. At Little White mountain approx 5500 feet. First I've seen of moon and stars in weeks. Surprisingly warm up there.

I first ran into them in 77 at BCIT. used to start fires. Partially filled with Potassium Permanganate and after the balls fall from a hopper to an injection stage ( Glycol) they are ejected to the ground and the chemical reaction gets hot enough for the polystyrene to burst into flame. The sphere is now a fuel source for a minute or two while the fuel nearby ignites.

A friend stayed behind to fight the fire himself. Good thing because he saved his buildings.
