“The big ones are homelessness and helping people get off our streets, as well as helping increase the sense of safety for our residents because we know that a number of our community members have said they don't necessarily feel safe in different parts of our community,” he said. He created the mess in the first place. So now that he's ruined the community after being Open For Business, this is his stand. Yet in the last election, he bent over for Melcor and those types and to get elected while they all let the city go to crap. And those who vote for him and will again, this is what you want? You can all vote for him, I sure won't. Actually I can't, he screwed up that town so bad I decided to leave. He has done nothing, knows nothing, but I am sure he's got a few more coins his piggy bank. So he's got that going for him. Nothing but a puppet clown in a mayor's suit.

Will they feed you, and give you free housing too. I might sell here and run too.

Time to give Basran and his socialist council the boot. Beware of socialist candidates. Do due diligence.

Only a handful of kool aid drinking people would want Basran back. Problem is all the other choices are terrible as well . I’m actually leaning towards Bobby the criminal Kennedy. At least he’s honest . A few short weeks ago I never would have dreamt of voting for him. Basran has been terrible. Dyas is probably worse. Schewe follows Obama on Twitter. So that guy is likely a socialist rainbow warrior like Basran. Have I left anyone out.

ABCD

Anyone but Colin or Dyas.

Basran is a far right NEOLIBERAL.

Pro business, low tax, pro development.

He only throws in left leaning social issues (bikes and car pools) to mask his true intentions

Reminds me of JT.

Considering what we have now, Dyas for mayor (Kennedy, Schewe are wasted votes), James and Bell for council are good bets.

If they're smart, more will be speaking against Journey Home's haphazard plans as days proceed toward election day.

Basran is the last person I will vote for. The guy who has no-stop approved big development out in the upper mission and all along lakeshore road throughout the mission. Tells us on his FB Political page that building roads isn't the solution. We should all live and work in the same location so that we can all walk or bike to work. tell that to the 100s of construction workers and developers lugging things around out to the far reaches of Kelowna to build all of the developments he's approved. It's taking people over an hour to get down the road from the upper mission right now, because of all the over development. Wait until all the development he approved along the lower mission lakeshore road is done. The road will be at a standstill. But I guess all these people can just walk a few kilometres or get on their bikes and ride a few kilometers through the snow in the winter to get to work. Forget their cars and trucks! And all the construction workers building all the developments he's approved can carry their tools on the city bus! And all the realtors he caters to can just ride the bus around to show all their clients the homes in the developments he approved. Or better yet, they and their clients can hop on the drop bikes! That's the answer! What a contradiction.. Just because he's working in city hall right now so he can live close to town and walk to his job, doesn't mean the majority of Kelowna do. Kelowna has never and never will be the type of city where the majority can walk or bike around. Just not doable.

Mayor Colin Basran
But simply building roads is not the ultimate solution. Evidence shows, that it's more effective to increase density so that people can live and work in the same neighbourhood and to provide them with additional transportation options. This is good for everyone, because if fewer people drive, it reduces congestion for those who do. That's why we implemented a transit expansion plan for 2019-2022, which includes additional 1,800 service hours for 2019 during peak times and we are building Phase 2 of the Rutland Transit Exchange. We added 25.3 km of bike lanes and 5.5 km of multi-use pathways and completed the Okanagan Rail Trail with plans to pave it. And just as exciting, the City partnered with Dropbike for a bike share program that has seen fastest adoption of any city in Canada.

You can't tell people you want them to work and live downtown when the target demographic buyers of these housing/condo developments are people who do not live or work in Kelowna. That's why the spec tax stalled the downtown condo project.

25% of downtown Kelowna homes/condo are owned by people who don't live or work here.

Basran is vocal against any measures to curb vacation/speculative buying.

Lying through his teeth.

Right on. Let's reelect Councilor Brad Sieben, and give the rest a journey home on election day.

Vote October 20, if not before.

Wait u think JT and Basran are right wing. I used to give u credit. That is ridiculous though. I will be more than happy to hear exactly what makes either of those cream puffs right wing.

They are neoliberals. They are right wing in everything business related. Low taxes, free trade, against minimum wage, against labour. Basran is part of the local real estate cartel which is as far away from the left that you can get.

They are left in identity politics only. Bikes, LGBT, carpooling. Sucker marquee issues to get those fair-weather left wing votes.

They think business should run the show. "Let the market decide" is their mantra.

I’m leaning between bylaw guy and pot guy. Who to pick? Bylaw Guy has been laying pretty low. I think pot guy may have my vote. Basran is a male social justice warrior.

Could you really vote for a guy who doesn't think rules apply to him? That's why I won't vote for Kennedy.

I really don't want Dyas in, don't want Basran again either.

Will probably vote Bylaw guy.
I haven't failed until I quit.
