I applaud the people of Lumby for the work they are doing to bring a piece of their history back to life. Its actually pretty exciting!

That's a great story, it would be good to see the truck and some of the crew that worked on it in the parade.

They are going to need more than $1K for sure - I have seen the truck up close and it is in rough shape.
But - considering the age not that bad.
Been stored under a tarp in the field in Fintry for the last number of years.

It was/is sitting at the Lumby museum, but not sure if it is headed somewhere secure so it can be worked on.
I will see if I can find out.

** Organizer (Gary) tells me that:
It will be inside the shed (At the museum) when not being restored but probably outside on weekends**

I've seen a similar truck to this before, a LaFrance model 700. The engine is just behind the driver's seat and is in the middle of the truck and it drives the rear wheels plus the water pump that is just behind the engine. LaFrance didn't just buy an engine from Ford, GM, Chrysler, or International. They had their own. It's a big V-12 with dual ignition, meaning there are 24 spark plugs. It's a beast. Some of the parts might be hard to come by and the distributor cap for one thing is huge, feeding all those spark plugs. The good part is that these old fire trucks had fairly low mileage and were well maintained.

So it was up and running in the Lumby Light Up - Christmas parade.
Engine still needs work for sure. Lots of heavy exhaust coming out.
But it ran and was able to make it thru the parade.
